[TOMT] [BOOK] looking for an older kids book ab a world inhabited by blue one legged creatures and blobs w racial implications???
trying to remember a british children’s/middle-grade novel i read sometime in the 2000s/early 2010s. it wasn’t a picture book, more like a normal novel with black-and-white illustrations at the beginning of each chapter (?).
cover was yellow and had the blue feathery/fluffy creatures on it with long necks, possibly with one visible leg and three toes. there were no humans, just made-up creature species. the blue creatures ate worms, and there was another blob-like creature species with big lips that may have eaten rubbish via its ass. one of the blue creatures was prejudiced/scared of the blob species while another kept telling them not to be prejudiced. there was also a pregnancy/birth (mpreg??), and i think the blob creature later helped with childbirth or caring for the baby.
the creature names were nonsense/fake words, and i vaguely remember the blob creature having a soft-sounding name similar to “simbabbig” or something like that.
themes seemed to involve prejudice/coexistence.
