I’m looking to switch from my current brand for whole beans, which continues to decline in quality, and has itself a developed a sour taste (it’s Peet’s, which I know many of you will say was never good, etc etc.). I’d love to find something small and local, for consistency. Or even semi-local, in SoCal or just CA.

I don’t enjoy a lot of third wave coffee because it almost always tastes sour—not bitter, which I would enjoy, but sour. I can’t recall the names of local shops I’ve tried over the years aside from Stumptown, which I do always find sour. Would also prefer low acidity, but that’s not a dealbreaker the way sourness is. I enjoy dark, medium and light roasts.
