One of the best pastrami sandwiches I’ve ever had. Worth the $27 price tag. I need to try Canter’s next! Any other must-try delis with great sandwiches (specifically pastrami?)

Normal Food Spots in LA With Great Salads?

Not looking for dedicated “salad spots” or healthy food place, just regular restaurants, delis, trucks, whatever that happen to have a delicious salad on their menu? Anywhere in LA is good to know, but especially wondering about East Hollywood/Los Feliz/Silver Lake neighborhoods. Thanks everyone!

Paradise Dynasty happy hour is a ridiculously good deal

50% off dim sum and select dishes from 2:30-5pm on weekdays PLUS $2.99 wine / beer specials. Got all this and chicken won tons (not pictured) AND two rounds of house wine for around $50. As good as DTF or even better IMO.

Place was almost empty on a late Friday afternoon. Can't believe people are sleeping on this!

Everything bagel with scallion cream cheese from Daniel’s Bagels

I want this every morning now. The flaky salt on the bagel was a nice touch.

Milestone Anniversary Cozy Dinner Suggestions

I know this sounds like a repetitive post but it is our 10th wedding anniversary and we're looking for something that fits the following criteria:

  1. Not too loud

  2. Anywhere in LA Proper

  3. Not too expensive, between $50 - $100 per person

  4. Bonus: booth seating!

We don't particularly enjoy overly fancy or stuffy atmospheres and really appreciate good food regardless of the type of cuisine. We wanted to have a meal where we can actually hear each other talk and get cozy (hence, the booth request).

I've been searching all over and just haven't found anything that really matches what we're looking for. One place that is along with lines that we're looking for is Si!Mon. We've been there multiple times so we're looking for something new!

Thanks community!

Looking for lively dinner recommendations

Hey everyone

My friend will be in town for the weekend, and we are looking for some dinner recommendations! Specifically, we are looking for places that are lively, have a fun ambiance, and of course, delicious food!

He doesn't drink alcohol, so bars isn't something he'll be into but feel free to shout them out

Some places that I have jotted down so far are:

  • RVR
  • Manuela
  • Lucky's Steakhouse
  • Bavel
  • Antico Nuovo ( haven't been there, so idk )
  • Dunsmoor (but unfortunately no reservations until mid Sept )

Feel free to recommend some restaurants (WeHo, West side, arts district, etc)

where should I take my sister to late lunch/early dinner in DTLA?

I haven't worked in DTLA in years so my knowledge of eateries is relegated to 2024 and before. She gets into LA around 2pm, so the place needs to be open during the afternoon post lunch service. My sister is picky & avoids a lot of stuff (wait a second, this is LA, she'll be fine) but she mentioned perhaps a steak. The last time we ate dinner in LA together was in 2023 & I took us to Water Grill, which she liked plenty (it's also an option this time around), so something similar to that but with more red meat options. I also have Yard House on the list because it's easy & similar to our usual default in NYC, The Smith (lol at us).

Thanks in advance!

looking for local farm meat

hello! i’m looking for a farmers market or store front that sells meat directly from a local farm. does anyone have any suggestions?
additionally, i’ve checked out BRD (Buy Ranch Direct) in HB and the recent reviews just get worse and worse. if you have any personal experience there i’d love to hear about it.

Fancy-ish restaurant that won’t completely break the bank

Hello! First time poster, so sorry if I used the wrong flair.

My friend and I are coming to LA at the end of the month and I just bought a really nice, new dress I’m dying for an excuse to wear. We aren’t like rich people or anything so looking for something with an environment/vibe for a nice dress but preferably within maybe a $30-$40 entree range at MOST.

Outdoors or indoors is okay and anywhere between Anaheim and Santa Monica is fine. We’ll be all over the place so we can make whatever work! Any type of food is also fine - we both really love Asian food, though! Thank you!!

My partner and I are expecting a baby really soon. Please drop your recommendations for a date night restaurant that isn’t typically baby or kid friendly. Looking for a last hoorah type of date before our new bundle of joy/life changes!

Location: LA proper through northeast LA, SGV - really, anywhere except the west side or east of the SGV. Thanks in advance!

Tuna melt at Mickey Fine Pharmacy

Lunch counter coffee shop inside a pharmacy from the 60s in Beverly Hills. Their tuna melt is one of the best in town, nice and meaty, good flavor, nice melty cheese permeates the meat. Their wedge fries also pretty good, and the milkshake is top notch—not too thin, not too thick, just right. Super nice folks too, the owner came by and talked to me for a bit, and hooked me up with a small plate of free onion rings.

Need advice for TONIGHT please

We need a reservation for tonight for a celebratory dinner for 12 that will allow us to order a la carte for a group that size. Good veggie options a plus! Near Santa Monica airport would be amazing. Thank you in advance.
