Looking for lively dinner recommendations

Hey everyone

My friend will be in town for the weekend, and we are looking for some dinner recommendations! Specifically, we are looking for places that are lively, have a fun ambiance, and of course, delicious food!

He doesn't drink alcohol, so bars isn't something he'll be into but feel free to shout them out

Some places that I have jotted down so far are:

  • RVR
  • Manuela
  • Lucky's Steakhouse
  • Bavel
  • Antico Nuovo ( haven't been there, so idk )
  • Dunsmoor (but unfortunately no reservations until mid Sept )

Feel free to recommend some restaurants (WeHo, West side, arts district, etc)

All Terre D'hermes variations

Hey guys !

Many people have said that if they could have one fragrance for the rest of their lives, it would be Terre D'hermes.

Looking into Terre D'hermes, I realize there are 6 variations, and many don't specify which one they're referring to.

There is EDT, Parfum, Intense Vetiver, Eau Givree, EDP Intense, Tres Fraiche.

I'm sure each one has a different profile, sillage, longevity, etc

So my question is: Out of all the variations, how would you summarize each one, and which one is your favorite and why?

Disappointing Experience at La Zucca | Reserved, got turned away, and got charged for a No-Show

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to come on here and tell y'all my not-so-good experience at La Zucca in Venice

I've been planning my Italy trip for several months now, and I was researching the best restaurants in Venice. After reading through hundreds of posts and comments,I kept seeing La Zucca mentioned! I went on TripAdvisor, Google reviews etc and a lot of people say it's amazing!

So 23 days out, I made a reservation for a party of 4 and I was excited to eat there! Before making a reservation, I had to enter my credit card information in case of a no-show, which is perfectly fine!

Before arriving, I was telling my guests all about this restaurant, how good it is, their menu, the location, etc. But upon arriving, everything changed.

I walked in, and I let the person working know, who I believe is the manager, that I had a reservation at 9pm for 4 people. He then checked his iPad and quickly responded that his system shows no reservations from me and that I (he put a lot of emphasis on "I") must of canceled it.

(Before I continue, why would I cancel a reservation but still show up at the time I reserved with my guests outside???)

I responded, confused, because I obviously hadn't canceled any reservation; I showed him the PayPal email confirming the 100-euro credit card hold from La Zucca. Before I finished my sentence, he cut me off and, with attitude, told me the email doesn't matter because he doesn't have anything on his system. And that I won't be charged(!!!) because the reservation was canceled

At this point, I was unsure of what to do because he was getting a little frustrated at me, so I asked him if he had anything open for that day. He replied with a simple "No" without suggesting any alternative. Not even a sorry I can't help you

I walked out and back in, with their website on my phone showing the reservation I made. I told him I just want to make sure, because on my side, I have a reservation. He said that nothing else matters because he doesn't have it on his system. I simply told him "Ok thank you" and walked out

I told my guests what happened, and we decided to go elsewhere and had an amazing meal.

But remember when he told me, "I won't be charged because the reservation was canceled"? Well, I logged into my Chase app, and guess what... I was charged USD 121 for a no-show.

If there was an issue with the reservation system, I can understand that mistakes happen. What I cannot understand is being charged a no-show fee after physically appearing at the restaurant and speaking with staff in person AND telling me I won't be charged at all

Unbelievable, first of all, trying to navigate this situation is already confusing enough, and especially when the staff is giving you attitude, and then saying you won't be charged but still charges you.

I don't doubt that they have good food, but I believe it was unprofessional the way that a highly recommended and rated restaurant handled this

TDLR: Made reservations 23 days out, excited to eat. Showed up and was told my reservation didn't exist because I must have canceled it. Showed reservation proof with credit card email, got turned away assured I wouldn't be charged... and was later charged $121 USD as a no-show. Unbelievable

Edit: I emailed them yesterday and have received no response after 2 follow-up emails

Hi guys (yes i know another food post..)

We will be in Florence for 3 days (2 nights) and we are looking for a nice restaurant for our first night that serves dinner. Specifically, one that serves bistecca alla fiorentina.

It doesn't have to be upscale or fine dining -- it could be a casual dinner. Please suggest any that I should consider!

What I have so far:

  • Osteria dei Pazzi
  • Trattoria Mario
    • I've heard a TON of good things about this. But I haven't heard much about their dinner. Do they still serve dinner on Thu/Fri?
  • Osteria Pepo
    • I heard that their steak is a hit or miss sometimes??
  • Ristorante il Bongusto La Maremma
  • Buca Mario
  • La Giostra
  • The Antico Ristoro di Cambi

FYI: I booked Osteria del Chinghiale Bianco on our second night! We are looking forward to the wild boar
