Resignation & Final Pay

Hi there,

Just looking for some needed guidance! I have been working full time at a PayDay Loan company (it’s what was hiring). I reach my one year with them on June 3rd, signed my employment contract May 31st 2025.

I trained an individual 6 months ago at my branch, after my departure- I do believe they would not suffer any financial loss in hiring since he is here.

My question is:

I handed in my two weeks on May 13th, outlining my last day would be May 27th. Treatment at work has always been awful, this is a horrible work environment both behaviour and pay wise. The past four days, cooperate management has been getting audibly annoyed/upset with me for things that have not changed since I was hired (internal admin responsibilities). I have been maintaining these responsibilities despite handing in my notice.

In my employment contract it states:

“If you voluntarily terminate your employment with the Company, you agree to provide the Company
with two (2) weeks’ notice of your resignation. You acknowledge that the Company will suffer
damages by your failure to provide at least the notice as required herein. In the event that you choose
to provide more than two (2) weeks’ notice of your resignation (“the Additional Resignation Notice”),
the Company may, at its discretion, waive the Additional Resignation Notice in whole or in part,
entitling you to payment of the lesser of your earnings for the balance of the Additional Resignation
Notice or the pay in lieu of notice provided in Section 5(b)”

Due to these increased behaviours from management, I am so entirely tired. I want to alter my last date from the 27th to May 20th (As I have booked holiday May 17th-19th). Will this have legal repercussions at all- it seems highly unlikely to do anything “wrongful resignation”, but they are petty company that throws money at anything but their employees. Would there be any consequences of sending off an email stating my last working day is now May 20th? Will I still receive my final paycheque (my company does not have any VAC/benefits)?

Thank you so much!
