help! reboot and select proper boot device and weird hard drive noise
hi all,
the other day i noticed my computer making a weird noise and today i turned it on and cannot get past a screen that says “reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device”
i think the noise is coming from my hard drive, and starts as soon as i turn on my PC and stops when the startup screen appears
my pc is a self built one , i have a m.2 samsung SSD and seagate hard drive
in my bios i can only see my SSD and no other boot options. but i actually don’t know for sure where i’m storing windows, im assuming my hard drive (not very helpful sorry!)
i’m really worried i’ve lost all my data! help!
things i’ve tried:
- replacing my CR 2032 battery
- unplugging and replugging everything (sata cables, hard drive, ssd etc)
- starting up without hard drive and got the same reboot message (so thinking that windows is on the hard drive)
