Make sure you count your cash at the counter before leaving

I went to Truist Bank today to withdraw $2,000 in cash, all in $100 bills. The teller who assisted me used a counter in the back of the room, so her back was facing me while she counted the money. When she finished, she handed me a sealed envelope.

It felt a little unusual because tellers normally count the cash in front of the customer. Because of that, I decided to take the money out and count it myself before leaving the counter.

While I was counting, the teller suddenly turned around, came back with a $100 bill, and said, "Oh, good that you're counting. This one was left on the desk."

Had I not counted the money before leaving, I would have been short $100.

Please make sure to count your cash at the counter before you leave the bank.

Update**: That afternoon, I called the branch and reported the incident to the supervisor. She assured me that she would look into the matter and address it. She also appreciated that I took the time to call and report the incident.
