Looking for advice

In March - I was trying to close my account, but I have had a name change.
It’s an account I’ve had since I was a kid, so my dad is on the account.
They would not let me change my name without my dad, nor close the account without the name changed.
My dad cannot easily go in to the bank, and I explained that.
What I did not realize was that they would start charging me a monthly fee for the dormant account.
I reached out via chat, they reimbursed me that single fee.

In April, a charge came out from a recurring payment. I was under the impression that I had it set so no overdrafts could happen, so I was shocked. I explained that I did not understand why they allowed this payment and was told that apparently bank payments will go through (it was via PayPal).
So now I owe $40ish in fees due to not being allowed to close my account.

I’ve fought this over and over, went into a branch, I literally just want to pay the amount that came out with PayPal and be done with them. But they have me on the line for the additional $40 and will not do anything at all to help, using the excuse that they already reimbursed that single fee in March. What can I even do? I feel like I’ve run out of people to escalate this to. I don’t want to pay $40 and I don’t feel it’s right to force me to.

I don’t understand why waiving $40 would be out of the hands of absolutely every single person at a company. Does anyone have any advice on how to escalate this?

Is it possible to get images of deposited checks?

Is it possible to have Truist retrieve images of checks I deposited? I usually handle deposits at the ATM or drive through and will deposit 4-8 checks at a time. When I had Suntrust before the merger they were able to print off images of the checks I deposited. I checked with my local branch and was told they couldn’t do it but that I should call the national customer service line. Customer service told me that it wasn’t possible for them to pull up a breakdown of my deposits just the lump sum (no images). I believe that I may have misplaced a paycheck from a customer and would like to confirm before reaching out to them (I really need to be more organized). thanks!

I deposited my tax refund check …

Wednesday 5/13 next day Thursday 5/14 it showed the addition and then later they have it minused that amount. You’d think coming clearly from the IRS it wouldn’t be a problem but it’s now been 2 business days and today, so 3 days. Wth? And we have enough in other accounts to cover it… kind of annoying to me since we’ve been a member for like 22 years. Anyone know what’s up with this bank?

Credit Card fraud (cancelled); typical to lose online access?

Truist cancelled my credit card due to fraudulent charges and is sending a new one out. This is a shared account with my husband who has his own card and wasn’t affected. I was logging in to check the account and noticed I can’t view it. I can view my other Truist accounts, like debit card, etc. Is this typical? if so, how long will I lose access to my online account for? I am unsure when I will receive my new credit card.

Loan Payment vs Auto-Deduction

Has anyone else run into this issue?

Truist set up a friend with a personal loan. There were payments set up to auto-deduct monthly from their checking account through ACH payments. When my friend set up their online account, they paid an extra $100/month to pay down the loan. The following month, after paying the extra $100, the "payment amount" shown was less than the auto-deduction amount. When the payment cycle went through, the ACH payment auto-deduction was the same amount as before and NOT the lower payment amount shown on the online account. This caused a great deal of confusion. Thankfully, my friend was not hit with a double payment.

Why was a different amount showing for the payment amount online if Truist was just going to auto-deduct the same amount as last month from the checking account?

Culture/sentiment for potential new joiner

I am looking at a corporate job opportunity in the Finance/Operations area. The job itself looks interesting and is well within my expertise and capabilities. It would be a sizable increase to my current compensation.

BUT I am a huge culture person and it seems many people hate the culture there. I am particularly interested in corporate positions and not necessarily the branches.

What are your opinions on the corporate culture? Do you believe in the current leadership team? Are you optimistic about the company’s future? How is retention looking at the corporate level compared to previous years (people resigning, not layoffs)?

Adding someone as a joint owner to personal checking

Do we have to visit the branch in person and what form of ID do we need to bring?

OR can it be done online or by phone?

how long did it take you to graduate from secured to an unsecured credit card?

i’m a working student, and i initially applied for the Truist Enjoy Cash Card but got denied and was offered the secured version instead. my credit limit is $500, and i only plan to use around 10–30% of it. i was wondering if anyone here has gotten a credit limit increase with this card and how long it took for your card to graduate to an unsecured card. sorry if this sounds like a stupid question. i’m really new to credit cards. thanks in advance!

I know there isn’t an answer to this…why is Truist still holding my money until payday? Every other bank seemingly deposits once they get the payroll file.
