Outward 2 - Guns versus ghosts

One of my characters is using a gun/shield build neither which can use varnish so I'm doing very little damage to ghosts. Is there a way to put buffs on guns or shields? Or maybe some type of explosives I have to throw at ghosts? I want to make my gun and shield build viable.

Outward 2 - Iridescent Sap, sweetener or not a sweetener?

So the iridescent sap that you get from marbled trees don't seem to count as "sweetener" for the gabbery jam recipe. Does anyone know if you have to refine it into a sweetener or what? Or is it a bug that it's not counting for the jam?
