The dumbest and most baffling design decision i have ever seen in a video game

My buddy bought this to play spliscreen but it turns out even if you start a game together only player 1 gets rewards and you have to playthe game story twice so player 2 can get even the freaking starter skills. Player 2 gets NOTHING while player 1 gets all the equipment skills and rewards and having to watch my friend fight monsters while i have to hide naked us is not good game design its bad game design. We were not about to start over again so we quit, refunded it, and will never touch this badly designed garbage again. You shouldnt have to play the game twice for player 2. I really dont kniw what the devs were thinking but they just lost a customer and i have lost all interest in the sequel

Need help for endgame build

I used white kintsugi armor with Fabolous palladium shield and skycrown mace and went to do caldera and unknown arena and got straight up demolished. I found out heavy armor and 1h and shield doesn't work anymore. So my question is there a good fast build that I can use to do both content while doing a lot of damage ?

MyJourney part 2: got my lighthouse back from the soldiers!

Still finding my way, most of the time I figure things out as I go along - factions, locations and lore still is a black box.

I dropped dwon a cliff to a beach - talked to a man on the beach who was wounded, healed him and got a blue scroll to get my lighthouse back. On the way back to Cierzo I was shot by crabs and was dead (?) for too long so my lighthouse was given away. The blue scroll did not help me. After losing my lighthouse I tried brewing potions to reclaim it for 300 silver, but that didn't work too well. So out into the world I went again, only to wander into a cave where lizard people (?) lived - i killed a blue dude only to get one shot by a green dude. Back in Cierzo after waking up I took a different route. This time through the warehouse and into a cave - killed the troglodytes and landed on the beach at night. Managed to grab some blue sand and mine some minerals only to get one shot by some crabs. Sold my stuff in Cierzo and noticed that I was halfway to the 300 silver. So back out into the world and some exploration and crab shenanigans later I scrounged up the 300 silver. Got my lighthouse back and I am super happy. So after some good sleep I go to talk to Rizza, who told my Yzan and another dude were leaving so I talked to them. The gist of it is that I have to travel far. Will set out into the world for real now that I have my home back...cannot wait for more chaos. Love it.

My brother was watching when this happened. Said I stressed him out.

It was the jump that got him. Said he thought I was a goner and his stomach sank.

I ruined my save and don't know what to do

So basically I had a save in which i got fucked up by an armored hyena and died, winding up with my food ruined by Troglodytes, so I went to reload a previous save. However, I kept confusing the folder containing saves with one that I used for playing with my brother as a different character, so i renamed both folders after the characters, not realising that doing so removed my ability to use either. So I went back, but I didn't know the uid of either, so I instead made two new characters and replaced their save data with the data of the two old folders. They showed up in the game when i pressed "continue," but now when i load either, they just force open a new save, and i die the moment i wake up at the shipwreck. I've heard that I can fix this by renaming the new save folders with the uid of the characters I want to use, but I don't know them. Is there a way to find them elsewhere at all?

CAN'T ROLL BACK SAVES!!!!

Please help! I really like the game and i don't want to HATE it and NEVER play it again.

SO.....I died in a wind temple in Enmerkar Forest, spawned outside, (DIDN'T pick up my backpack) ran back inside, died again and spawned in Berg.

No backpack in my house. Ran AAAAALLLLL the way back to the outside of the temple where I originally spawned and alas, no backpack.

Ran back INSIDE to where I died again, no backpack.

I've tried every way to re-open old saves and NOTHING has worked.

Rune Sage Element Focus

I want to make a tanky rune sage, and I'm debating/wondering whether more ethereal damage (traps and sword) is the way to go or more lightning damage (lantern and sword). I'll be using all parts of the kit, but really just debating between Spirit of Monsoon or Spirit of Berg enchants.

If anyone has any better suggestions I'm open to them

So I just started, have no idea what I am doing...and am having a blast!

Did the tutorial, survived the shipwreck, woke up in lighthouse, was informed I have little time to get 150 silver or lose my house. I then see out to find said money, killed two hyenas, then got kicked by two guys and ended up at their village. Escaped the prison and walked into a spike trap. Woke up at Cierna (?) again and slept for a few hours. Will now try to find the shipwreck and a stash this dude told me about. And this has been one (!!) Hour of playtime. I have no idea what will happen next and love it.

Any help appreciated though 🤪

This might be my favorite piece of promotional art ever released for a game. The Immaculate was an extraordinary design in the first game and looks like it will be even more artistically-evolved here! I would hang this on my wall, no question!

Failing a timed objective in Mixed Legacies

This one isn’t serious, but I was wondering if I miss out on something important like a good reward, if I fail to kill the Mercenary Leader? I didn’t know that one was timed and it seems to have failed after I spent a day resting in-game.

By the way, I’m at day 77 and still this early in the game. Is that bad? I’ve spent a lot of time sleeping since I’ve been trying to get a hang on the combat but I’m not very good at it, so I can’t often need to use the tent lol

So how does Outward, a relatively niche game with no official mod support, have such awesome and complex mods? Especially compared to mainline AAA games that have barely any

Maybe it’s the power of a dedicated fan base but I’m just curious, this game has mods that add new mechanics, new quests, entirely new classes, new areas, all with no official mod support

Then you have other AAA games that have barely anything besides tweaks years after release, it just baffles me a bit, not that I’m complaining

How do you manage your mana without Philosopher?

I'm putting together a mage build and I'm planning to get the Hex Mage, Rune Sage and Cabal Hermit breakthroughs.

The problem is I don't have any breakthrough points left for Philosopher, so I won't have the mana regen from Leyline Connection. I don't want to be constantly running out of mana during boss fights.

For those of you running mage builds without Philosopher, how do you deal with mana management?

The Soroborean clock tower puzzle

I Tested the Harmattan Clock Tower 120 Times — and I Think I Figured Out How the Color "Cycle" Works

I've been experimenting with the Clock Tower puzzle in Outward: The Soroboreans and wanted to test something I couldn't find clearly documented: are the Clock Tower colors actually random, or does killing the corresponding Arcane Elemental remove that color from the available pool?

So I decided to stop guessing and collect some data.

The initial observation

Before I started recording samples, I had already killed the Purple Arcane Elemental.

I then recorded 24 Clock Tower results.

Initial 24-sample baseline

  • 🔵 Blue: 7
  • 🔴 Red: 6
  • 🟡 Yellow: 6
  • 🟢 Green: 4
  • 🟣 Purple: 0
  • Blank: 0

Purple never appeared during those 24 observations.

That gave me the idea to test whether killing an elemental actually removes its corresponding color from the Clock Tower's available results.

Experiment #2 — Yellow

I killed the Yellow Arcane Elemental and then recorded another 24 Clock Tower samples.

Results

  • 🔵 Blue: 9
  • 🔴 Red: 8
  • 🟢 Green: 2
  • 🟡 Yellow: 0
  • 🟣 Purple: 0
  • Blank: 5

Yellow appeared 0 times in 24 samples.

Experiment #3 — Red

Next, I killed the Red Arcane Elemental.

I then recorded another 24 samples.

Results

  • 🔵 Blue: 8
  • 🟢 Green: 6
  • 🔴 Red: 0
  • 🟡 Yellow: 0
  • 🟣 Purple: 0
  • Blank: 10

Again, the color corresponding to the elemental I had killed appeared 0 times in 24 samples.

Experiment #4 — Green

Next, I killed the Green Arcane Elemental and ran another 24 samples.

Results

  • 🔵 Blue: 15
  • 🟢 Green: 0
  • 🔴 Red: 0
  • 🟡 Yellow: 0
  • 🟣 Purple: 0
  • Blank: 9

Once again, the killed color appeared 0/24 times.

At this point, three separately tested colors had produced the same result.

The final test

At this point the only remaining color was Blue.

I killed the Blue Arcane Elemental.

After advancing the world state, the Clock Tower eventually turned white, confirming the completed puzzle state.

The game then crashed when I reached Duvernay Plaza, but fortunately the completed white Clock Tower state survived the reload.

I returned to the plaza and found the five final Arcane Elementals.

They proceeded to absolutely murder me once before I came back and killed them all. 😂

Final loot

The five elementals dropped:

  • 🔴 Fire particle: 1
  • 🔵 Frost particle: 1
  • 🟢 Decay particle: 1
  • 🟡 Lightning particle: 1
  • 🟣 Ethereal particle: 2

Total: 6 particles, including 2 Ethereal particles.

My current hypothesis

Based on the observations, I don't think the Clock Tower is simply cycling through all five colors in a fixed sequence.

Instead, my working hypothesis is:

«The Clock Tower selects from a pool of available elemental colors, and killing the corresponding Arcane Elemental removes that color from the pool.»

The evidence I collected:

Elemental killed| Subsequent 24 samples 🟣 Purple| 0/24 Purple 🟡 Yellow| 0/24 Yellow 🔴 Red| 0/24 Red 🟢 Green| 0/24 Green

After all five elementals were killed, the Clock Tower became white and spawned the final five elementals at Duvernay Plaza.

One thing I still don't understand

The blank results became increasingly common as more colors were removed:

  • Yellow test: 5 blanks
  • Red test: 10 blanks
  • Green test: 9 blanks

I don't know whether those blanks represent an unavailable/invalid roll, a visual state, or some other part of the Clock Tower's mechanics.

So I'm not claiming the blanks are explained yet.

But the repeated 0/24 result for every color we deliberately removed seems pretty compelling.

And yes, I counted them:

5 × 24 = 120 Clock Tower samples.

I may have spent an unreasonable amount of time staring at that damn tower, but at least I got two Ethereal particles out of it.

Is there a way to have co-op difficulty in single player?

So I've been looking for a way to increase the general difficulty after playing this game waay too much but...OutHard seems cool but changes the game too much for my liking, and the challenge runs feel too restricting and take away most of the fun of trying new things from the game...so I've been looking for a simpler mod that just makes it so the enemies have all the modifiers of playing co-op but while playing by yourself...does anyone know if something like that exists? Closest thing I could find was an old mod that got those features abandoned and can't seem to find it now.

Help Needed

Honestly, I saw some videos and I played this game like for like 40h and I still don’t get it exactly.

What I lack? I think a direction. Every time I try the game I stay mostly on the first area and barely do much. Once I unlock one skill tree and manda and that is it. Which is basically nothing and I know that.

But there is just something that still hast clicked on me even though I enjoy the beginning. Maybe it is the skill tree or were I should go or what kind of play style I enjoy better in this game. I don’t know honestly. And that is why I am here asking for some help. Videos (which I saw some already, guides, tips for weapons. I don’t know.

I am open for any help. If you need me to answer something like my kind of play style in another game or what not. Let me know.
