One subtle thing that made work less stressful for me: separating “important” from “emotionally loud”
For a long time I treated whatever felt most intense as the most important thing.
The urgent email
The stressed message.
The person escalatng something loudly.
But after a while I noticed a pattern.
A lot of the truly important work was actually quiet. Long term decisions, deep focus, preventing problems before they happen.
Meanwhile the emotionally loud stuff just demanded attention fastest.
Once I started separating those two things, work felt a little less chaotic.
Still not great at it, but realizing “loud” and “important” aren’t always the same thing changed a lot for me
