Just looking for an advice. I have been an ICU nurse for a little over 11 years. Presently, I’m almost 4 months in as staff at a hospital in Los Angeles and am unhappy. Prior to this I did just one contract with Kaiser. And was with an agency who sponsored my visa here in the US for 3 years. I’m an immigrant, and I’ve been here in the US for 4years. But I want to quit get back to travel where money is better. I just want a long vacation back home where my family and friends are. But everyone (immigrant nurses) I have sought advice to say it’s better to stay as staff since my job is now secured. I’m currently applying to an MSN-NP program and with that I might have to wait longer on visiting my family. I haven’t seen them for 1.5 years now.

This is the first time celebrating my birthday by myself. Actually, birthday ko nung 16 pero dire-direcho work ko and I just started a new job in a new company kaya walang may alam na birthday ko. I just kept quiet kasi I know it wouldn’t really matter cause nobody there really knows me yet. I was okay at first. Received calls and messages from family and friends. Today, I went out to do errands and I saw a bakeshop and decided to buy myself a cake. Now, sitting here all alone sa apartment ko and eating my cake, naiiyak ako bigla. Nakakaiyak. Naaalala ko nung kabataan ko, laging may handa tuwing birthday ko. I was surrounded by either friends and/or family. Now, I’m 7,300 miles away from them, all grown up and just trying to make it in this world.

To my fellow adults going through the same or somewhat the same experience, my heart goes out to all of you. To myself, Happy 32nd trip around the sun and go easy on yourself ♥️

EDIT: Thank you for all the birthday greetings. Truly this is one of the bittersweet moments of adulthood. With regard to the box, the tagline is not even that big of a deal 😂 it came with cake.
