Is there any coordinated effort by US Scientific Societies to oppose latest student visa limitations?

In case you were not aware, administration recently announced that foreign students pursuing their PhDs are limited to 4 years in the US. Apparently this doesn't just apply to future students, but to current as well. It isn't clear how this can work, and what will happen to, lets say, current 5th year students. Given that non-US students make up a significant proportion of the US scientific endeavor, does anyone know if the US Scientific Societies like AAAS and ACS, or universities as a whole, are mounting any coordinated opposition to this policy, which has the potential to degrade US science and technology for decades to come?

Amazing Interviewer on 1-A just now

Just heard an amazing interviewer on 1-A (name is Todd Zwillich). He was interviewing this PR man who represents the data center industry. Zwillich really put this guy's feet to the fire as he spouted his PR lines, pushing back hard, even interrupting the PR man mid-BS-flow to check him. It reminded me of the best BBC interviewers (you know: formal but very pointed, and calling out people when they start spouting non-truths.). Just excellent! Keep fighting the good fight Todd Z.! (you know, revealing the truth)

Need advice on back strengthening exercises

I'm hoping to get some wisdom here. I am in my late 50s, and have a history of back pain (I know who doesn't) but also throwing my back out. I do daily exercises to strengthen my core: leg raises from lying flat. Also lying on back and rotating bent knees left and right. This seems to help me avoid throwing out my back. But as I add in additional things, like bending over for yard work or any kind of lifting from the floor, or additional back-strengthening exercises, the days following the activity my back has an increased chance of being thrown out (which will then mess me up for a few days while I recover). Suggestions include deadlifts, but based on my history I know that this will increase the chances of me throwing my back out as I recover from a bout of exercise. I guess what I am looking for is some gentle exercises that I can slowly ramp up and strengthen my back to get to the point where a deadlift wouldn't screw me up. If it helps I am 6'3" and have a long torso and am otherwise fairly fit. Thank you for any insights into things that worked for you if you have been in a similar situation!

Getting an "Error" on my RO1 Submission "...Requires use of ScienCV to make biosketch"

Of course, I used ScienCV to make my biosketch. It is "certified". It is labeled as such within the pdf created by ScienCV. I even redid it yesterday and did not change the file name, as I read that can cause problems. Still got the Error message. I have my correct ORCID in my identifying information. I've read other threads on reddit and elsewhere with multiple people having this issue. What else? I'm on a Mac (in case that causes an issue)using firefox. I downloaded the pdf directly from the ncbi common form biosketch site, and uploaded it into my application on grants.gov.

I opened a ticket yesterday (Thursday) for the ERA help desk, but I don't expect to hear anything until Monday at the earliest. And of course the deadline is 5pm on Monday. How panicked should I be at this point? Is there a reliable way to resolve this, as I believe I've done everything required of the process. Thank you in advance for any insights you may have!

Are there any actual studies (peer reviewed) demonstrating that "Grease the Groove" works?

There is so much chatter about the efficacy of the "Grease the Groove" method of strength training, but are there any actual peer reviewed studies where, for example, they compare it to more conventional "Train to failure" approaches?
