4 Years of Gym Training — Want to Start Calisthenics and Learn Skills, Need Advice

Hey everyone, I’ve been training in the gym for about 4 years mainly doing bodybuilding/powerbuilding style workouts, but recently I’ve really wanted to get into calisthenics seriously. I still want to keep my strength and physique, so my current idea is to run a Push Pull Legs split, and then make the last 2 days dedicated calisthenics Push and Pull days focused on skills and bodyweight strength.

My main goal is learning calisthenics skills and becoming good at them over time, but honestly I have no idea where to properly start. There are so many skills and progressions that it gets overwhelming.

I’d really appreciate help with:

- Which skills should beginners start learning first?

- What order should I learn skills in?

- How do you actually “practice” skills efficiently?

- How often should I train them?

- How do I balance gym training with calisthenics without ruining recovery?

- What are good Push and Pull calisthenics routines for someone already strong from weightlifting?

Some skills I eventually want to learn are:

- Muscle up

- Front lever

- Handstand

- Planche (long-term goal)

- Human flag

For reference, I already have a solid strength base from lifting, but my bodyweight control and technique are pretty beginner level.

Any advice, routines, progressions, YouTube channels, or general tips would help a lot. Thanks!
