[Art Galleries] I want to sell my work but haven’t heard back from any galleries, am I doing something wrong?

Hi everyone, I’ve never posted here but any advice is appreciated!

I’ve been doing art as a hobby for a long time. I work on boats so I draw a lot of inspiration from coastal themes and scenes and work primarily in watercolor. I’m not creating masterpieces by any means but I think my art is good enough that it would sell, and I’ve had offers from strangers to buy my work in the past. I want to explore selling art more seriously but I have no idea where to start.

I submitted a few paintings to a juried art show but they were rejected, and I’ve reached out to a couple galleries and provided pictures of my art but didn’t hear back. If there’s a technique to trying to get art into galleries that I’m not aware of, I would love to hear advice from people who have been through the process. Thanks!!

I just quit a temporary job. How do I explain this to future employers?

Hi, I’ve never posted here so maybe people have asked this before, but I just quit a job that was only going to last a few months. I quit for multiple reasons (15 hour days 7 days a week, not gaining the experience or skills I was promised, bad fit for company culture that was impacting my mental health, among several other issues).

I’ve worked other jobs in my industry before this and I already have another job in my industry lined up that will start in three months. I graduated from college last year so I’m still early career but I think I’ve got a pretty good resume for someone of my age in this field.

I’m wondering how I explain this blip to future employers though. Maybe they won’t even ask since it was a temporary job to begin with and I wouldn’t necessarily volunteer the fact that I quit, but I know you’re not supposed to talk poorly about a company that you’ve left or expose weaknesses within yourself. And since it was temporary, it’s hard to use the “I was looking for work that more closely aligned with my career goals” excuse because I already had another job lined up and could have easily just stayed at this job.

Any advice is appreciated! I’m kind of stressed about it all because I’m gonna be unemployed for the next three months but I think I made the right decision. If you’ve even been through a similar situation or know anyone who has, please let me know what you did or how it went. Thanks!!
