Is he (M22) playing me (F22) or is this how adult talking stages work?

i met a guy a month and a half ago after he asked for my ig he started texting me the next day as he was moving to a different state for a couple of months. right from the start he told me he never been this easily attracted, how hes sober now and wants to really settle down, how he cant wait to connect with me, how he is celibate, yada yada. we expressed from the first call we didnt really like texting and preferred calls. beginning the month he would send me ig pics through the day, text, sometimes call during the week but later the texting became less and less he had a crazy family emergency where he ghosted me for a few days i let this slide because the emergency was pretty serious. after this it was some random calls not that much texting and no more ig pics. at the end of the month he had a chance to come down here. our schedules were hectic and we ended up meeting up at the last day he was here at night. we talked for a while and ended up having sex. This was very big and unexpected for me because i have never been with anyone else besides my 3 year relationship but i let it happen because i thought he was for real about me and i expressed how i had been feeling over the past month. He said now that he had seen me in person it felt real and he would be more communicative . now this month nothing much has changed if anything the texting became even less but when he does text he is apologetic and enthusiastic but zero calls and he ghosted me for a day and said he was busy and tired from work. im not expecting a text at every second of the day im not like that but if i like someone i usually would like to talk to them or wonder how their day was? he always says he respects women and he is just so offline and hates being on his phone so my question is, is he playing me or is this just how adult talking stages work? i have not had to do this getting to know someone since highschool because i was in a long term rs so im not sure if this is normal or if i should cut things off
