18 month old crying intensely
Any advice or solidarity? My sleep trained 18 mo old got re-sleep trained (extinction at 4 mo and 12 mo too) around 15.5/16 months and has been sleeping great since then. Up between 7-8, nap 1230-230 (give or take 30 either end), bed between 730-8.
Now he’s screaming for 30-40 before bed, crying for 60-90 minutes and only napping for 30 min, waking earlier in the morning. And night wakes that can last 15-30 min, sometimes 2-3 of them. I can’t imagine his sleep needs can be decreasing this intensely in that short of a period, right?
I’m really struggling because I feel like between the crying with sleep, and the crazy daytime tantrums and picky eating, I’m just listening to crying all day and night or dealing with an unhappy toddler. And I’m doubting if cry it out is the right method to stick to. He was previously so happy and playful.
Is this developmental? Am I doing something wrong? His 4 pre molars are coming in so I think that could be part of it but they seem to bother him less.
