Ok, weird, isn't it? But let me explain myself.
Both Wistoria and Alicization start with a pair of childhood friends who are separated very early on due to the world's "system." Will and Elfaria make a childhood promise, and she is kidnapped to become a Magia Vander. In SAO, Kirito and Alice have this exact same dynamic, where Alice breaks a taboo and is taken by the Integrity Knights to the Central Cathedral.
Both are brutally kidnapped in a scene where the MC cannot do anything for their sake.
Will needs to grind at the academy and climb the tower to reach Elfaria. Kirito and Eugeo need to become knights (Did I mention there is an actual Academy just for it?) and climb the 100 floors of the Central Cathedral to rescue Alice.
Will is the guy with no magic in a world purely focused on wands, but he compensates with insane physical ability and a sword. Kirito also uses pure swordsmanship instead of Arts (magic).
In Alicization, Alice becomes an Integrity Knight and forgets her past. In Wistoria, though Elfaria hasn't forgotten Will, she is isolated at the top like an untouchable goddess to the rest of society, exactly how Alice Synthesis Thirty was viewed by regular people.
Did I mentioned that in both works the MC isn't a noble nor a mage, and that's a huge factor of bullying?
Ok, there is also an apocalyptic war coming in both works.
Which "Swordman" would win? Both at their full potencial.
Also the plot, I mean... 💀☠️
"A world without Will is no different from a destroyed world!
A world missing that boy is the same as a garden of decay where everything has come to an end.
The logic of discarding 'one' for the sake of 'ten thousand' or 'a hundred million' doesn't apply to her.
For Elfaria, 'one' (Will) is 'everything'.
The 'girl with overly heavy feelings', already accomplished and complete at ten years of age, didn't back down a single step.
Instead, she was about to tear down the obstacles right here and run on her own to where Will and the others were.
Towards this girl, Ellenor, who until then had remained indifferent, reacted for the first time and opened one of her eyes.
'You better stop, girl. You're going to die,' she said."
!Spoiler Alert!
I've been thinking about this ever since I understood the purpose of Colette's bracelet. The amount of magical power being suppressed in her and sent to Will for at least around 5 years (Understanding that Colette would have the power to become a Magia Vander without the bracelet). Also, the fact that Will's bloodline traces back to the Queen Sorceress herself, and that his body is a "sponge" that never releases its own accumulated mana.
Another thing that intrigues me is that he's never had a cold, which is essentially the body adapting to the amount of magical energy it possesses, while Elfaria has at least 6 times on a year. How much magical power can his body withstand?
They played together.
They slept in the same place.
They even bathed together.
She used to make Will's favorite popsicle with her magic, and the two of them would lick it together.
Elfaria really liked Will's smile back then.
Once, without their adoptive father's knowledge, they climbed onto the roof of the orphanage and watched the night sky.
It was at that moment that they kissed.
It was an unexpected surprise attack from Elfaria.
Will's face turned red, clearly visible despite it being night.
Elfaria blushed too, but kept smiling and held the paralyzed boy tightly.
Elfaria already understood from that moment that her happiness was right there.

Like, he was a Water magic user, with water affinity on prequel. Why can't he answer to Edward question, and why everybody recognized him as a failure?
"— Actually, the person in charge of the water mages is Professor Bruno... but he just got married. He is on leave to accompany his wife’s childbirth and take care of the baby. Therefore, I will temporarily take over your class as a substitute.
While I was surprised to hear about the marriage of a professor I didn't even know, for some reason, Elfie intertwined her arm with mine.
She rested her head on my shoulder, leaning against me. Her eyes were closed, and she had a happy expression.
— W-what is it...?"
It is from prequel chapter two.
