deep cleaning a vintage phono cartridge

I recently got a hold of a vintage cartridge that sounds pretty good, but I'm having a hard time keeping it clean. Regardless of how much I clean the needle, dust is falling from inside the cartridge and coating the cantilever to the point that it's creating its own surface noise with older records. If someone has more experience with vintage cartridges, what's a safe way to do a deeper cleaning?

For reference, it's a Technics EPS-310MC, and it's in otherwise fantastic condition and sounds great. I just don't know an effective way to clean something so small and fragile. This is the gel cleaner I use for the needle currently: https://a.co/d/02S1ykbk
