“Delayed” sensitivity after planing/scaling

Three weeks ago I had planing and scaling on the right side of my mouth, then last week had my appointment to have the left side done. When I was there the hygienist asked if I’d had any sensitivity on the side that had been done, and I said no because I hadn’t. She also tapped on several of my teeth and asked about any pain. None.

Yesterday I was brushing and I am suddenly feeling sensitivity at the gumline in front of one of the teeth planed and scaled three weeks ago. It is mild, and only when I am brushing that spot — not heat/cold/pressure otherwise. I use Sensodyne normally, and notice the sensitivity is even milder today, so definitely heading in the right direction. But I do find it strange that for two weeks it seemed fine and suddenly now I’m having sensitivity at the gumline.

Is this a case where I need to go back to the dentist because it indicates a problem, or is this “delayed sensitivity” something that can happen?
