A small detail that I loved about the ending of Mr. Robot. (Elliot and Whiterose's ending)

So I just finished S4, and one detail I really liked was how in Elliot’s dream world, Whiterose/Zhang was a charitable founder and a woman who no longer had to hide her true self from the world. I think it showed how Elliot connected to her in her final moments and subconsciously imagined her as a good person in a better world. It almost felt like a thank you from Elliot to her (because, well, in a way, she saved him by giving him the choice and protecting the room he was in) and in return, Elliot actually did believe that in a different world she would finally be a good person and not a monster again. A small detail, but really loved this. 🥹😊

Why is the Dark Army so nerfed in Season 4?

Hello guys. I’m currently watching Mr. Robot and just finished S4 EP9, so I haven’t seen the rest of S4 yet. But there’s one complaint I have that I honestly don’t think the remaining episodes are going to change:

Why do the Dark Army and Whiterose feel so nerfed ever since the S3 finale?

Maybe it’s better to start with S3’s final episode itself. As much as I loved it, I think the twist with Leon shooting the Dark Army soldiers instead of Darlene and Grant being ordered to kill himself was unnecessary. It was the first time Whiterose made a really questionable decision.

Couldn’t she have just told Grant directly to kill himself instead of having Leon kill multiple soldiers for literally no reason? Dark Army members usually kill themselves when they’re defeated. Here no one was defeated. It just happened for pure shock value. At first, I thought it was still worth it, because the Leon scene was genuinely one of my favorite scenes in the entire show. But after S4’s handling of Whiterose and the Dark Army, I don’t think this treatment is even worth it anymore.

Whiterose was established as an insanely smart character, and the Dark Army as the most powerful group in the series. They became so smart and powerful that it feels like Sam Esmail had no choice but to make them act stupid in order for Elliot to beat them.

Why have Grant kill himself just to replace him with a new right-hand woman who basically thinks the exact same way? And more importantly, why would Whiterose still give Elliot so much freedom after everything?

Elliot went from begging for his and Darlene’s lives to basically hitting Whiterose with a “call an ambulance, but not for me.” lmao. As much as I enjoyed seeing Elliot finally beat her, it didn’t feel fully earned to me because Whiterose practically LET him defeat her.

Even if she didn’t want to kill Elliot because of whatever obsession or admiration she feels toward him, she still should’ve had him watched 24/7 by as many Dark Army members as possible (not just some random van outside his apartment). Like, Dark Army members should’ve even lived with him in his house and be near him all the time. She could’ve easily forced Elliot into such a constant surveillance and he would’ve had no choice but to agree. She should’ve done that because it was necessary. This is the same guy whose childhood friend and multiple fsociety partners were murdered by you. Why would you ever assume he wouldn’t try to destroy you?

It honestly felt like the Whiterose in S4 EP9 was a completely different character from the Whiterose we saw in S1 EP8 (her meeting with Elliot) or S2 EP11 with Angela. Back then she felt terrifyingly intelligent. In S4 she suddenly keeps making mistake after mistake.

I really would’ve preferred Elliot defeating Whiterose in a fair battle of intelligence instead of the show nerfing her IQ to make it possible.

What do you guys think?
