I’m 27, female, but I’ve always felt like I was supposed to be a boy. what does this mean?
I’m 27 and was born female. I have a female body, but I’ve never really felt comfortable with being a girl.
As far back as I can remember, I wanted to be a boy. When I was younger, I would genuinely cry and wonder why I couldn’t be a boy. It wasn’t just that I liked masculine clothes or hobbies, I actually wished I had been born male.
As I’ve gotten older, those feelings haven’t really gone away. I feel uncomfortable with parts of my body, especially my breasts, and sometimes I wish I had a male body. I also feel uncomfortable when people refer to me as a girl or woman. When I imagine myself in the future, I often picture myself as a man rather than a woman.
I’ve also been in relationships with girls, and I’m definitely attracted to women. But I’m confused about how sexuality and gender fit together because I don’t know whether I’m supposed to think of myself as a lesbian, a straight man, bisexual, or something else.
I honestly don’t know much about the terminology, and I’m not trying to label myself based on one post. I just want to understand myself better.
For people who have experienced something similar: does this sound like gender dysphoria or possibly being transgender? How did you know what your identity was? And what terms might describe someone in my situation?
I’d really appreciate hearing from people who have gone through something similar. Please be kind — I’m genuinely trying to understand myself.
