I am from Columbia, SC and recently I was involved in a traffic incident in which my vehicle has suffered significant damage. I am trying to understand what my first steps should be in this situation.

At the moment, I am unsure whether I should immediately contact my insurance company, get a full damage assessment, file a police report, or speak to a lawyer. I want to make sure I handle everything correctly from the start so I don’t face issues later with compensation or liability.
