The transsexual and transgender dilemma
A lot of other people have talked about this, but there seems to be a somewhat big divide rearing it's head in the community now. Transsexual people who want to change their sex and have dysphoria, and transgender people. Whereas they used to overlap, many people under the transgender label often follow gender and sexuality abstraction/abolition (ex: Trans man lesbians, pseudo intellectual AGAB essentialism, dysphoria is transphobic, "I identify as" instead of "I am" ,etc). The most extreme parts are online but it has bled into real life, more noticeable for some than others.
It's kind of a tough situation because there are people who have essentially appropriated the transgender label, but they can't separate from each other because we are fighting for similar things, but also different at the same time? If you get what I mean. Like now it's just more about vibes and less about changing your sex.
And we have people arguing that medical treatment isn't necessary for transition, you are valid with your dysphoric traits...therefore it's cosmetic (the quiet part: life saving surgery and medical treatment doesn't have to be covered by insurance). Idk this whole thing is crazy and I feel like I'm trapped with these people who it seems like are similar to me, but we fundamentally believe in different things.
