Trupanion for a 9-year-old cat?

I have a 9 year old Mekong Bobtail cat who I’ve had since she was two months old. She is generally very healthy- no major issues. I’ve never had to take her to an emergency vet. She had oral surgery in 2023 (I was able to get low cost care at a clinic) and otherwise she saw a vet for anal gland issues two times. I take her regularly for check ups and vaccinations to my regular vet.

However, she’s getting older and I’m aware emergencies happen. I want to purchase pet insurance because if something did happen, I do not want it to financially set me back like it has in the past with the emergencies and sudden deaths of my two other cats… I’m aware it would likely be pricey bc she is 9 years old, but I was considering Trupanion specifically because of their Direct Pay options. I’ve checked with the three emergency vets in my area and they all utilize Trupanions Direct Pay software.

Any advice? Please be kind as I’m trying to learn and do what’s best for my cat in the long run!

Thank You!
