Can they renege?
Went to sell a vehicle to Carmax, check engine light came on after they were securing the vehicle. The sales associate decided to read the code for the light and contacted the buyer. Buyer one decided to go ahead and buy the car, buyer two put a hold on the deal but eventually agreed to buy it too. We signed the contract, they signed the contract then the sales associate took the signed contract to his manager for approval. By that time the “lead buyer” told them to hold off issuing the check until they have time to investigate the engine code more thoroughly. By that time it was late in the evening and they told us they would let us know something tomorrow. My question is legally are they allowed to renege like this after a contract has been signed?
