I live near the Boardwalk and usually there are fireworks going off days before and on July4th. It is, and has been, weirdly quiet. No fences around Seabright Beach and the surrounding streets are not blocked off to cars. Or at least they weren’t around noon.

Did everyone finally understand that fireworks are terrible for dogs and cats and veterans and wild animals? Is it the $1000 fine? Fireworks too expensive? I’m so curious and also grateful.

ETA: well, it did get pretty crazy after dark, but still quite a bit less than years past.

Does anyone know if someone else sells those yellow chocolate banana slugs that Donnellys used to make? They sure made a great gift!

ETA: thanks for the info, everybody. I was thinking of the place at Soquel and Frederick. I will check out Martinis and Mckenzies and avoid Donnelly's
