Another what bike ... Sorry
CBT booked in for August and need a bike. Budget is c£3500.
This is where (hopefully) it gets interesting.
I'm 6'2" and weigh about 12 stone (tall and lanky). Novice rider, but 30+ years of driving (including race licence so pretty aware, just not on 2 wheels).
I've agreed to do a roadtrip with mates next summer from the Isle of Skye to Tangier, down through France and Spain. Most of them have done big bike touring before so they have added a rule that we must all be on 125s. No camping involved thank god!
Suggest a good novice bike suitable for learning but also doing the trip.
Longer term I'll probably upgrade to a bigger bike, but generally speaking I'm after a bike for pottering about the Lake District and Pennines and no desire for riding fast or getting my knee down. The 125 will probably be swapped next autumn after the trip for something a bit more comfortable.
Whilst the others are looking at oddballs and classics, I think I need something boring and sensible. Preferably that will be reliable!
I will be getting my big boy licence before the trip.
