AIO for being upset at my friend for making a hair appointment at the same time and place as mine?
It is my (21F) birthday soon so I decided to make a hair appointment to get it cut and dyed for a new look. Ive been really excited and told my friend (20F) that I made an appointment for my bday since she was talking about wanting a haircut. After she asked me when I was getting it done and that was the end of the convo.
We have been to this salon together before to get our hair done at the same time as hang outs but I wanted to go to my bday appointment alone, not just because if I don’t like it I have time to fix to myself before anyone sees, and that me and this friend has had some history that has made it difficult for me to initiate hangouts together. Anyway, I had to reschedule my hair appointment due to work and when I asked my stylist she said, “Oh and (your friend) wanted to come with you for a haircut can she make it to the new appointment time?” After reading this I was surprised because even though I knew I told her what day Id get my hair done I didn’t think she’d schedule a haircut during my appointment to be done by the same stylist as me while my hair is being processed. Im upset that she didn’t check with me first if that was okay and it just felt surprising that during my special treat to myself for my birthday, I didn’t have control of this situation.
Additionally, now my friend is saying stuff like “should I get my hair dyed too and my haircut, do you think she can do that?” (She even suggested doing the same hair color as me) Now Im starting to feel like this appointment n I’ve been looking forward to has been less special, I get that she wanted to cut her hair, but I don’t get why she had to insert herself into the appointment time I already scheduled for myself without checking with me if that’s okay. We have been friends for 5 years so I guess she assumed did be okay since we have gotten our hair cut together there in the past, but Im still upset and idk how to bring it up to her without sounding like a bitch, so am I being a bitch and just not realizing it? Thanks for any advice. :)
