I booked a flight with a connection through Iberia, but it’s operated by two airlines: Iberia (first short-haul flight) and LATAM (long-haul flight).

I just noticed that one letter is missing in my last name on the ticket.

I called Iberia, and they told me that because the booking involves two airlines, they would have to reissue the ticket and I’d need to pay the full fare again. They said if the whole trip was operated only by Iberia or only by LATAM, the name correction would be free.

Does anyone know a cheaper workaround? For wexample, would cancelling the first short-haul flight make the remaining booking count as only one airline, so the name could be corrected without extra cost?
