Help with Finding Tomo's Diaries

Hi all,

Big Rurouni Kenshin fan here. Back in the early 2000's, I was gifted a few volumes of the manga in Japanese. A few years later, I ended up going to Japan for a high school exchange program and I ended up collecting the rest of the series. I brought back with me 20ish volumes of the 28 volumes written. And it has been one of the cool things I've kept in my home since.

I remember when searching for these manga volumes, there were some other books available. If I remember correctly, there were 3 books that weren't mangas, but were diaries. I think they were Tomo's 3 diaries. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Is that correct? Or am I confusing this with something else?

Thanks in advance!

Question about pattern racking in 10-ball.

I don't play much 10-ball. Just not that good at pool to add another ball onto the table. So... please be patient with me.

I know that there's different rule sets out there. I think for this tournament... one in front, 10 in the middle. The rest random. For some other rule sets, 2 and 3 in the back corner.

Beyond the order/placement... what should I be looking for? The format was rack your own, alternating break (if that matters). I totally get the whole... soft break, make a ball, and re-run the same run-out pattern over and over... Or soft break into a safety... But... If you are smashing the rack open... does pattern racking really matter that much? I feel like it's incredibly difficult to consistantly have a table that looks anything similar to previous breaks.

How much do you pay the house for league greens fee?

Hi all,

Just curious to see how much host locations in your area charge your league team for pool league. Edit: Please let us know if your fee is just league fees, just greens, or both. It really helps to clarify as fee structures vary across the country.

In Silicon Valley (San Jose, CA), our APA League night are $40/night per table. Flat rate for the night. Prior to this year, it was a little less. I think it was $35/night. That's having access for the table from 6PM to 11PMish. Our total league dues is $50. So... $90/night per team ($18/per person). I think the peak, single player rate for one location is $12-13/hr.

One of the other location has Diamond 7' tables and same thing... $40/night. The single player rate for this location for the Diamond 7' is $9/hr.

Follow-up question: What is the single player rate? Do you feel like you are getting a break for league table time?

Pool League Captain Pet Peeves

Need to vent...

I am a BCA Pool League team captain and an APA team co-captain. As a captain... what are your pet peeves? What drives you up the wall? What makes you nuclear?

Teammates that complain they never win. "Do you practice?"

Chalk face down on the rails...

My 280 rating player giving technical/game play advice to... anyone...

Teammates that run late, and don't tell you.

Teammates that doom-scroll on their phones during their match... The match is only 30 minutes...

People telling me what the rules are... I know what the rules are...

Teammates trying to micromanage me and telling me it is time to start the team match...

Question about Practice During League Matches

Hi all.

I wanted to guage people's opinion on people practicing during matches at league night.

Our league is an in-house BCA league. Two tables are assigned per a match. Each team (home and away) gets a practice table for 1 hour before matches start. From there, the home table becomes the match table where all the league games are played. The second table, the away team table, isn't required to be used for the match. Most teams agree to share the green fees and use the second table simultaneously to help the match finish on-time/earlier. A lot of people also play APA and it's nice to be done by 9:30PM. But if a team doesn't want to play matches on the second table... they can choose not to.

My question is this... If it is decided that only one table is to be used, is it kosher for the a team to take the second table and use it strictly as their own practice table while matches are playing? Especially if there are no other tables available? I've had a few teams try to pull something like this off where they'll stay warm the whole night while everyone is kind of just stting there becoming cold while waiting for their match.

What are your thoughts?
