Wanting more from my PC - Upgrade or build new starting from scratch?
Hi, first post here so apologies if not properly formatted.
In (roughly) 2019-2020 I built a pc with the following:
Intel i5 9400f
GTX 1660 super
16GB DDR4 RAM
Stock intel CPU cooler
SSD and HDD storage
I still use the computer for gaming and music production pretty frequently but it is certainly showing its age. The parts themselves are in pretty average condition and it certainly feels like it struggles to run certain titles that on paper should work pretty well.
From my limited understanding, it wouldn't be worth just upgrading either the CPU or the GPU, and if I were to upgrade the RAM I presume I would need a new motherboard to jump to DDR5.
Would be more cost-effective to sell my current rig to go towards building a new one, or to simply upgrade a few parts of it? And if that's the case, what should be my priority in upgrading?
