Growing it out, goes sideways too much and need suggestions
I'm growing out my curly and very thick hair (on the dry side, gets frizzy but never greasy), when I pull it down it goes just past my chin. When damp it's soft and heavier, causing it to fall down and look amazing. But when it dries it stiffens (because it is so thick) and poofs out, gains a ton of volume, and goes sideways too much. Gets pretty frizzy too, especially if I shampood it. I want it to mostly stay close to my head and fall down.
Any suggestions/recommendations? Maybe go to the stylist and thin it out (as in, intermittently cutting strands in-between to reduce volume)? What are some products that would weigh it down while softening / reducing stiffness and frizz? I've heard of products like KCCC doing wonders but not sure whether it's right for me. Any help is appreciated!
Routine:
My routine, 1-2 times a week, is mostly just for cleaning and doesn't really change the look/feel very much other than becoming slightly frizzier, but here goes: Shampoo head&shoulders (i've heard bad things about it, but need it at least once in a while), condition with Cien Nature containing argan oil, brush it a bit to make sure it's not tangled, then air dry. Don't do anything while sleeping as it would seem mostly pointless; every morning I either shower or shove my head under the sink as it's impossible to reshape when dry. Needs a "reset" via fully wetting it.
