What products will revive my ends?? I have straightened and done relaxers for going on 10+ years and have decided to finally go back to curly. Recently bought the Pattern brand for shampoo conditioner and styling products. But for my ends is there something like k18 or color wow that I should be using to revive the ends?
Routine:
Pattern- Heavy Shampoo, Conditioner,Curl Gel and Mousse
Hair Dried with a diffuser on hot

Why do my curls web?

It seems like no matter what I do, I get this weird webbing texture. Not to mention the fact that it’s incredibly dry and rough. This time I use amika hydrorush shampoo and condish, Camille rose curl love leave in, doux CSC mousse and wetline gel. Air dried. The hold seemed promising at the time. I don’t understand why I struggle with this when my curls aren’t hard to define in the first place.

At this point, I’ve tried everything: strong hold, soft hold, botanical gels, mousses, deep conditioners, protein treatments, clarifying shampoos, chelating shampoos, conditioning with heat, conditioning with steam, loc method, lco method, and the list goes on…

I might just be a straight natural from now on. I love my curls. I’ve worn my curls my whole life, but after 30 years there should be no more “figuring out” to do. It should just be maintenance now.

Frizz galore, and I love it

Since I stopped straightening my hair (a good 10 years ago), I've been trying to work out how to care for it. I've spent way too much time trying to tame it to look like the perfect curls I see in social media, from girls with a completely different hair type from mine. It was only about 3-4 years ago that I truly fell in love with my afro.

I know it's not perfectly defined, I know it's frizzy as, and I kinda love exactly for that. My hair victory it finally loving this does-whatever-it-wants hair.

Idk if that post actually counts, but I wanted to share my journey.

Routine:

- I wash every other day, it's hot, I go to the gym, I cannot have a sweaty scalp, it gets ichy. I use a mask every wash, unless I'm in a super hurry, then just conditioner (briogeo curl charisma)

- shampoo: Briogeo Curl Charisma. Every 2 weeks, Olaplex 4C Clarifying Shampoo

- masks: I rotate between Minimalist 5% maleic acid, Widi Care PhytoManga and Ceremonia Guava

- oils: Lola Pinga Açaí e Pracaxi most of the time, Virtue labs healing oil every so often

- leave in: Lola blessed Beach or AS I AM JBCO for natural fluffy, Briogeo Curl Charisma on the rare occasions I want a bit more definition

- hair pick by me at all times

- sleep in satin bonnet

Fighting frizz?

First pics are start of the day, hair is dry and styled. Last two pics are end of day (hence the bad lighting)
I’ve been on a new curl journey the last year, after a long bout of depression and major life changes. My hair has become very thin thanks to stress, and perimenopause. And the grays 🙄 but I’ve been very focused on making my hair nice again.
I’ve never had much for frizz before, and my hair is very thin and fine. I’ve tried a few oils to prevent frizz and they weigh it down so much the curl is literally out except the bottom inch.
Current routine is-
Shampoo every three days, wet and condition every day.
I use Ouidad shampoo and leave in conditioner. Also Ouidad gel and then mousse, and curl brush. Mostly air dry, sometimes diffuse the very back middle because it doesn’t dry as fast.
I’m fine with it for the most part. This is a fairly new length for me as well (formerly long). But if those curls lasted all day I’d be pretty happy 😂 any oil recommendations for fine hair?

How do i fix this frizz?

my routine- i use pharm to table curl growth castor curl boosting shampoo, curlsmith hydrating conditioner, while my hair is wet i brush it out and then use curlsmith hydro style flex jelly and scrunch my hair. after that i blow dry it with a diffuser and setting on low until it’s mostly dry. i use satin pillow cases and put my hair up in a high bun with a satin scrunchie.

please help! my mom has very straight hair and i grew up not knowing how to take care of my hair, as im sure a lot of others have as well. now as an adult ive learned more on how to take care of my hair but i still need help!! this frizz is always there, usually it’s on both sides (and i assume back lol). it’s like i have a thin layer of frizz on top of my hair constantly:/ i would greatly appreciate any help or recommendations!! thank you!!

(also can anyone tell me my curl type?)

Any tips or recommendations to improve my curls? Or do I just have wavy hair and don't know how to define it yet?

Here is my current routine:

Shampoo: Polaris NR-02.

Conditioner / Mask: Garnier Fructis Hair Food (Watermelon and Aloe Vera).

Leave-in / Styling Cream: I alternate between Cantu Shea Butter Leave-In Conditioning Repair Cream and Garnier Fructis Collagen Long Hair Repair Cream.

Gel: Árbol de la Verde (Argan oil scent) [Note: This is a Mexican brand].

Styling Technique: I apply the styling cream first, then the gel, and define everything by scrunching my hair with my hands while it's wet.

Drying: Air dried.

i only get waves/curls if i use a really specific hair mask - need help finding a replacement!!

second slide is what my hair looks like without it, third slide is the product in question

it's a hair mask from prose, which i know is basically a scam (they do "personalized haircare" based on your answers to a survey but it's on a subscription - i got the first month discounted and then immediately canceled it) but for some reason it's also the only product that comes close to giving me ringlets and my hair gets stringy and flat without it

i would love to find a replacement that isn't from that brand but unfortunately the container doesn't even list ingredients other than the ones in the photo 😭 i know it was supposed to be a hydrating hair mask but that's about it so figured i'd ask this sub!

routine (first slide, day 2 hair):

- prose custom hair mask first, wait like 5 minutes for it to soak in
- pantene strengthening damage repair shampoo
- pantene conditioner from the same line, separate roots by finger combing outwards while the conditioner is still in, turn hair upside down and brush it with a regular wet brush, then rinse most of the conditioner out and brush again
- aussie instant freeze sculpting gel while hair is still soaking wet, prayer hands / scrunching
- further scrunching with cotton shirt until hair no longer soaks the fabric
- let air dry for like an hour, then scrunch with olaplex bonding oil

routine in second slide is the same but without the hair mask! also my hair is somewhat damaged (some bleach with partial highlights, hard water area, wash almost every day, and sometimes blown out) and i don't do anything to protect my hair while sleeping

Best oil to fully break a gel cast on fine, dense, high-porosity curls ?

Hi everyone,

I have fine hair, but it is also very dense and high porosity.

I’m having a hard time fully breaking my gel cast after wash day. Even when my hair is completely dry, I sometimes still have a few sections that stay stiff/crunchy or feel coated, especially around the front, crown and some inner layers.

I currently use a small amount of jojoba oil to scrunch out the crunch, but it does not always fully soften the cast.

I also want volume, so I do not want an oil that makes my fine curls flat, greasy or overly separated.

My current routine is:

  • Curlsmith Frizz Control Shampoo
  • Curlsmith Essential Moisture Conditioner + Tangle Deezer
  • Kinky Curly Knot Today leave-in
  • Denman D3
  • Aussie Instant Freeze Gel
  • Hover diffuse on low speed / medium heat
  • Jojoba oil to scrunch out the crunch
  • Light root shake for volume once fully dry

What oil or lightweight serum would you recommend to fully soften a gel cast without sacrificing volume or making fine, dense curls greasy ?

Thanks!

what to do with uneven curly bob

forgive me for the drawing but it’s the best way i can show what i mean, ever since cutting my hair into a bob, the 2 side bits of my hair have suddenly sprung up and become 2x curlier than the rest of my hair, so now while the rest of my hair is even, these 2 bits are much shorter and it looks like i’m wearing a curly wig ontop of my hair!! 😭 my hair is naturally a looser curl but some bits of my hair are way curlier than others, such as these 2 bits. is there anything I can do to make these less curly? so that it all looks the same length??

my routine:
for shampoo & conditioner i use the garner curl range and sometimes the umberto gianini line.

For styling i use all umberto gianini: cream, gel & mousse. I also use a dupe of the bounce curl brush but i find that any styling brush doesn’t really work on these 2 bits they are very tight curls

I always diffuse and for sleeping i put my hair into a loose pony tail using a silk scrunchie alongside satin pillow case!

Help me, I’m always frizzy and dry

Hey guys, I’m still learning what my hair needs in order to look good, and the main problem I’m running into is that it is always extremely frizzy and dry. It’s dry when I put leave in conditioner or spray, and it’s frizzy within minutes.
I’ve tried a lot of products but I can’t stop the frizziness. I feel like I look ridiculous. I just got a haircut less than a month ago and it was frizzy after that too. It’s INSANE!

What can I do at this point? Am I just cursed with dry hair?

Routine:
• Wash hair with Pattern’s hydrating shampoo
• Condition with Pattern’s leave in conditioner and rinse it out
• Dry my my hair enough to be damp using a hair towel
• Scrunch my hair with a little more Pattern leave in conditioner (same one I condition with)
• Diffuse on low heat
• Nothing when I sleep

Looking for Haircut Recs

Usually I've got more of an imitation crab meat John Lennon thing going on, but this thing started curling its ass off recently. I'm at a loss for how to wear this, and I'm not the biggest fan of the hair metal / mullet combo, especially not with the thick roundies. Anybody with a similar curl distribution or better taste in general know a good way to pivot this?

The routine for this high-key tweaks me off because it was supposed to be a simple shampoo job on a chill day, but I absent-mindedly used my body wash by accident (Old Spice vanilla & Shea) and now my hair is the curliest it has ever been in its entire ever.

What curly products should I try? :(or

My hair has been feeling so poofy and dry lately, especially my ends, and my curls just haven’t been turning out like they used to.

Right now I use Eva NYC shampoo and conditioner, Garnier leave-in conditioner, and It’s a 10 spray to help comb through. I apply everything while my hair is wet, scrunch it, use a microfiber towel, and then let it air dry. I tried Not Your Mother’s gel, but I swear it made my hair soooo frizzy.

I’m wondering if I’m using the wrong products or maybe too many leave-ins? I’d love recommendations for dry, poofy curls that need more moisture and definition, especially something to help my ends. I’m open to drugstore or higher-end products!
I sleep on a satin pillowcase, but I don’t wear a bonnet or usually refresh my curls between wash days.

Routine: I wash with Eva NYC shampoo and conditioner (I can add the exact product line if needed). On soaking wet hair, I rake through It’s a 10 leave-in spray and Garnier leave-in conditioner. Sometimes I also use Aveda mousse, then I scrunch and let my hair air dry. I sleep on a satin pillowcase but don’t wear a bonnet, and I usually don’t refresh between wash days.

Hair takes hours to dry

Despite being relatively short my hair takes three to four hours to air dry. I've struggled with this since growing it out to the length you see in the pics about a year and a half ago. What could be causing this? Most guys with curly hair seem to get theirs to dry in less than an hour and that's just unfathomable to me.

Routine:

  1. Wash daily/every other day with a sulphate shampoo (Elseve "Cachos Longos dos Sonhos")

  2. Condition for about five minutes then rinse it out (Elseve as well)

  3. Apply Skala Blue curl cream while still very wet (tried styling with less water but I don't get as much definition)

  4. Pat dry with a cotton t-shirt

How would you cut/style my hair? I never seem to get the result I'm looking for.
