Review on OBS sunscreen
I recently ordered both their SPF50+ face creme and face mist during a sale and wanted to give an honest review.
For context I've been using Natio's rosewater SPF50 day cream for the longest time but got the itch to try something new.
First thoughts - face mist has a really strong musky scent which lingers even after drying. I immediately think I can't wear this to work especially in a customer-facing role. Feels a tad greasy at first which absorbs and dries down in 10 minutes.
Face creme has a strong sunscreen smell which reminds me of banana boat sunscreen. Very thick texture which is fine but I immediately regretted not applying moisturiser first as my skin felt a bit dry and uncomfortable. Gave my skin a nice healthy sheen but up close you can definitely see that it accentuates dryness and texture around the nose and chin, and there is A LOT of gold shimmer. And I didn't apply that much, only 1.5 pumps for my face which is half of what was recommended on their website.
Overall I'm really disappointed in the sunscreen and wouldn't recommend their SPF products for sensitive skin gurlies
- I didn't sweat at all but the sunscreen made my eyes STING so bad they were watery and red. I washed it off after an hour but it was really hard to get off even with oil cleanser and needed 2 rounds of oil cleansing + face wash
- My skin looked irritated after washing (not to mention my eyes were now bloodshot from residual sunscreen running down my face) and persisted after showering. I thought my skin was just dry so I applied some skincare... however the irritation just got worse. By the end of the day my face was covered in red patches and was so itchy. I thought it might just be an incoming acne outbreak but the next morning my face was SWOLLEN. And STILL ITCHY. This ordeal lasted over a day before my skin finally settled down.
I'm still in disbelief as I've never been allergic to anything before, but I don't think I want to try again to confirm my suspicion. The OBS customer care team responded to my email very promptly but I'm disappointed that they refused to entertain my request for a return despite the allergic reaction.
