Is this blood in my stool urgent or can I wait 2 days to see my doc?
I'm 37, male, in Australia. Twice this week I noticed blood on the first wipe after I used the toilet. The first time there was only a slight reddish tinge and I convinced myself it wasn't blood. Tonight it was clearly blood (pic attached). The second wipe and a some dabbing hasn't shown any blood since, so I have a feeling it came from inside rather than being hemmoroids. I'm worried and booked an appointment with my GP in 2 days which was his earliest, but now I'm wondering if I should see a random doctor in the morning rather than waiting. I would really prefer to wait. What do we think?
More about me - I'm fairly healthy though somewhat sedentary and I eat way too many sugary desserts, I drink a few cups of coffee a day. I had bad constipation 2 months ago after a pain condition stopped me from eating (and thus pooping) for a while, and when I recovered my body seemed to forget how to poop and I became very backed up. There was a lot of straining at the time and I could have damaged something, but this would be a delayed reaction. I've been pooping with no issues for the last 2 months.
It was weird, how gory the first wipe was compared to how totally clean the second one was. It gave me the impression that the blood was expelled from inside and my anus wasn't the exit point otherwise I think there would still be traces. I looked at the stool and couldn't see anything reddish or unusual though it was fairly large.
I feel fine, no pain in my gut or around my anus. I've dabbed with damp toilet paper a few times tonight and no more blood has turned up. Would love to hear your thoughts about whether this is "unfamiliar doctor" urgent, and what you think the issue might be. As you can see there's a small amount of tarry substance that wiped off with the blood. I don't know if that could be a clue.
