Inside of glass coating failed?
New ALPR cam right out of the box, first night, looks like some sort of coating on the inside of the glass has crinkled away? Has anyone seen this? Advice?
Edit - this is not cracked glass. It happened gradually overnight.
Edit 2 - I got impatient and used AI to research the issue. It seems that it is the anti-fog coating that has failed due to moisture (even though it shows no signs it must have soaked up moisture over the years in the box) and to avoid damaging the anti-reflective coating underneath it I must use distilled water and try and gently peel this coating off after opening it up to service it. Hope this helps someone else.
Edit 3 - Well, it is fixed. As it turns out it's just a polycarbonate protective cover from what I can tell. No special coatings. My guess is there is a final coat of something after making these via injection mold or whatever they do that would bind and create a crystal clear finish... that is my guess. When I removed the clamp for the cover I heard a slight suction pop so it had been under vacuum and failed. However it was cleaned up with water and a microfiber cloth. (lots of shiny dust on the cloth washed away.) Not 100% clarity now but 98% at least due to tiny scratches buffing it out.
