Updated my open database of Frigate camera specs (now 3,400+) — real RTSP paths, ONVIF details, ready-to-copy configs (JSON/CC0)

Hi all,

A while ago I shared here (https://www.reddit.com/r/frigate_nvr/comments/1u2ezeb/built_an_open_database_of_1000_camera_specs_to/) my open CC0 database of IP cameras with ready-to-copy Frigate configs.

https://preview.redd.it/bg69v9jp4lkh1.png?width=2044&format=png&auto=webp&s=a71811d44082ad8975516f0ac431cb0d5e57ede3

The feedback was genuinely useful. Biggest gap people pointed out: knowing a camera "supports RTSP" doesn't tell you the actual path to type into Frigate.

Now I've fixed that, with help from some folks in the open source community.

Every camera now has:

  • Actual RTSP URL structure (brand-level default + per-camera override where the manufacturer documents a different path)
  • ONVIF port and profile info where documented
  • Ready-to-copy Frigate config block per camera

All still sourced only from official datasheets and the data is always open source.

It would be great if you're up for a small contribution: pull up your camera, copy the config, and mark whether it worked. Happy to take feature requests / roasting in the comments too.

Direct link to the Frigate configs: cctv-database.com/frigate-configs

3,400+ cameras, 70+ brands now.

Hello,

On a Hikvision Intercom IP system for an apartment block, is it possible that on the Hikvision Connect app a user can only receive calls (and open the door), and have disabled the live view of the cameras without receiving a call from the entry panel? If yes, can this be disabled per user, or would it be disabled for all users?

Thanks

iVMS-4200 or Hikcentral Lite for home use?

Hey all

Got a new laptop so just went to the website to install iVMS-4200, and it told me that Hikcentral Lite is available now, and is going to replace iVMS.

We have a super basic home camera system - just our NVR and some turret cameras that are kinda oldish now. We don't do anything exciting with it, other than just viewing the live footage and occasionally needing to go back over recordings.

So I'm wondering if Hikcentral Lite is better, easier, cleaner etc and worth using instead? Or if I should just stick with iVMS for now? How have you guys found it?

Thanks :)

AX Pro M2H not charging battery

Hello,

My AX Pro Hybrid panel seems not to charge the backup lead acid battery - when ocassionally out of 220v, it draws the battery from 100% to 1% with all kinds of warning messages, but does not charge it when the power is restored.

It also indicates that the main power is disconnected when it's apparently on.

Can anyone please share advice on where to look / how to resolve the issue.

Thanks.

Pairing WiFi cameras to HIKvision DVR

My system is about 10 years old. I have been updating this old analog (BNC) system over the years, instead of changing out cables or going fully IP. Inexpensive and stable system. I have added newer cameras and I just upgraded the DVR to HIKVISION IDS-7208HQHI-M1/XT (8Channels). The DVR has 4 IP channels and I want to add WiFi cameras. We have excellent WiFi/access points/cables, so throughput is no problem. A 4M camera here is about 2000 Thai Baht/$70 US (HIKvision DS-2CV1043G2-LIDWE WiFi pan and tilt) or TP-LINK TAPO cams look interesting. Q: has anybody successfully added IP cameras to this (or similar) HIKvision DVRs? I ask because the DVR equipment vendor told me adding IP cams won't work, and to stick with analog cameras only. I don't want to waste $70 on a camera just to find out Thanks in advance!

How do you manage alerts and security at home?

Hi…I have two Hikvision cameras at home: one at the front covering the driveway, and one at the back covering the garden. I also have a Ring doorbell at the front.

My problem is that I’m not sure how best to manage the system while still getting the security benefits from all three devices.

At the moment, I receive notifications from both the Ring doorbell and the front Hikvision camera whenever there is movement in the driveway.

This is becoming quite annoying, as I get double notifications whenever the postman arrives or someone visits.

At the back, whenever the kids are playing in the garden, the Hikvision camera constantly detects movement within the intrusion zone I’ve set up near the back door.

As a result, I end up silencing notifications for two hours or even the whole day, which defeats the purpose of having the camera there in the first place particularly if I want to be alerted to someone actually approaching or trying the back door.

I’m completely clueless about the best way to configure this.

Part of the reason I installed the Hikvision system was because I didn’t want to rely entirely on Ring.

I understand that Wi-Fi devices can potentially suffer from connectivity issues or interference, whereas the wired Hikvision cameras provide continuous recording and a more reliable backup.

But at the moment, I’m getting so many notifications that the system is becoming more of a nuisance than a useful security tool.

The NVR is in the loft, and I mainly view the cameras through the app, if that makes any difference.

I’d really appreciate advice from anyone who has a similar setup and has figured out a sensible way to manage it.

Thank you.

Inside of glass coating failed?

New ALPR cam right out of the box, first night, looks like some sort of coating on the inside of the glass has crinkled away? Has anyone seen this? Advice?

Edit - this is not cracked glass. It happened gradually overnight.

Edit 2 - I got impatient and used AI to research the issue. It seems that it is the anti-fog coating that has failed due to moisture (even though it shows no signs it must have soaked up moisture over the years in the box) and to avoid damaging the anti-reflective coating underneath it I must use distilled water and try and gently peel this coating off after opening it up to service it. Hope this helps someone else.

Edit 3 - Well, it is fixed. As it turns out it's just a polycarbonate protective cover from what I can tell. No special coatings. My guess is there is a final coat of something after making these via injection mold or whatever they do that would bind and create a crystal clear finish... that is my guess. When I removed the clamp for the cover I heard a slight suction pop so it had been under vacuum and failed. However it was cleaned up with water and a microfiber cloth. (lots of shiny dust on the cloth washed away.) Not 100% clarity now but 98% at least due to tiny scratches buffing it out.

Accessing web clients I have tried everything I can find and nothing works.

Apparently there are some settings on my cameras and in HikCentral that are only accessed by there web clients pages. I have tried 4 different browsers with every tip available online I could find.
Even the Edge running Internet Explorer Compatibility mode. Nothing works. all I get is 404 or
The odd time I get just a blank screen and I have tried everything I can find to deal with that.

Is there not something Hikvision cad do to make there web clients available?
Any new ideas are welcome.

Thanks

Can't add devices, what am I missing?

Hello, we've moved into a building which has a hikvision system installed. I've managed to get the two of the devices to show up on HiTools delivery showing active but not online. This is the same on HikCentral. You can see this on the images I've attached. If I enter the device IP on the webpage it just doesn't connect.

Any guidance will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Large Hikvision Residential Install (39 Cameras) - 2x 32ch NVRs or 1x 64ch NVR?

Currently planning a fairly large residential install for a property with multiple outbuildings, stables, garages and barns that all need monitoring. The client already has a number of existing Hikvision cameras and wants to stay with the brand, so we're keeping everything within the Hikvision ecosystem.

Current camera plan:

  • Hikvision DS-2CD2387G3-LIS2UY/SL (8MP G3, 2.8mm/4mm) × 13
    • Priority areas
    • Most targets within 30m
  • Hikvision DS-2CD2347G3-LIS2UY/SL (4MP G3, 2.8mm/4mm) × 10
    • Internal stable, garage and barn monitoring
  • Hikvision DS-2CD23167G3P-LIS2UY/SL (16MP 180° panoramic) × 5
    • Overview Cameras, for large areas (e.g. Sand school, fields..)
  • DS-2SE7C432MW-AEB(14F1)(P3) TandemVU PTZ (32x zoom) × 1

We're also retaining a handful of existing cameras:

  • 4 to 6 older Hikvision 4MP cameras covering longer-distance areas (30m+)
  • 4 existing ANPR cameras, which aren't being replaced at this stage

That brings the system to roughly 40 cameras total.

Where I'm struggling is the NVR choice. This is larger than the projects I normally work on, so I'd appreciate some real-world input from anyone who's deployed similar-sized Hikvision systems.

At the moment I'm debating between:

Option 1

  • 2 × 32-channel NVRs
  • Potentially better load distribution and some redundancy if one unit fails
  • Works out slightly cheaper from initial pricing

Option 2

  • 1 × 64-channel NVR
  • Looking at the DS-9663NI-M8
  • Potentially upselling to a DS-9664NXI-S8/R if there's enough justification for the additional cost and AI features

A few considerations:

  • Sticking mostly to 2.8mm and 4mm lenses due to budget constraints
  • Client wants good coverage but cost is definitely a factor
  • Retention requirements haven't been finalised yet, so storage may influence the decision as well

My main question is whether you'd go with dual 32-channel NVRs or a single 64-channel NVR for a deployment like this, and why?

Any other observations on the camera mix, bandwidth considerations, storage planning, or anything else I've overlooked would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Firestick for Building CCTV

My parents condo uses Hik connect for their CCTV. They also have a channel through Comcast where they can watch the CCTV cameras.

My parents want to cancel their Comcast but want to still have access to the CCTV so I want to put something on their firestick.

I know sideloading the Hik app is a pain due to the touchscreen nature. My dad has the HIK app on his phone and it works fine.

Can I use the TinyCam app for the TV? I can get whatever IP or technical information I need from the front office, that's no problem. Or does Tiny Cam require the cameras and firestick be on the same network?

Any vendors in the US with a available cameras/nvrs stock for sale?

I won a large bid for which I quoted a Hikvision camera system. After the "ban" my regular distributors are no longer selling Hik products. This bid had been cooking for while now, but this sudden "no sales" has fucked me over. I am redoing my numbers to see how other brands come close to budget, but I would like to stick with Hikvision as this client has them installed at multiple sites and likes them.

Any distributors out there still selling them?

I am needing about 60 cams, mostly domes and a 64ch nvr

Hikvision DS-KH6320-WTE1 - How can I reset the admin password without the original installer?

Hi everyone,

I have a Hikvision DS-KH6320-WTE1 indoor station and need to reset or recover the admin password.
The system was originally configured by an installer, but unfortunately the installer is now unavailable, so I can’t contact them for the credentials or assistance.
Is there any way to reset the admin password and regain full access to the device?

Can this be done through SADP, iVMS-4200, HikConnect?

Thank you

Quote review — 15-camera Hikvision system for a condo building. Does this spec make sense?

I’ve received a quote from a local integrator for a video surveillance system in a condo building and I’d appreciate a sanity check from people who do this regularly. I’m based in Congo-Brazzaville, so local pricing and product availability are different from the US/EU — I’m mainly looking for feedback on whether the hardware choices and sizing make sense, not the price itself.
Context: [3 floors / 4 units], coverage is [lobby, parking, entrances, stairwells, perimeter]. Total quote is roughly $4,800 USD equivalent, installation included.
What’s quoted:

Qty |Item
8 |DS-2CD1043G2-LIU (2.8mm) — 4MP Smart Hybrid Light bullet
7 |DS-2CD1143G2-LIU (2.8mm) — 4MP Smart Hybrid Light dome
1 |DS-7616NI-Q2/16P — 16ch NVR, 16 PoE, 4K
1 |WD 4TB HDD
3 |Cat6 FTP indoor cable, 305m boxes
1 |6U rack cabinet
6 |Conduit rolls
1 |Pack of 100 shielded Cat6 RJ45 connectors
1 |HDMI splitter (2 out) + 100m fibre HDMI cable + 10m HDMI 2.1
1 |APC 5-outlet surge protector
1 |Misc. accessories (junction boxes, ties, anchors)
— |Installation and configuration Concerns I already have:

  1. 4TB seems way too small. By my math, 15x 4MP cameras on H.265+ eats ~450-500 GB/day on continuous recording, so I’d get maybe 7-10 days of retention. The NVR takes 2x 8TB. Am I right that I should push for 8TB minimum, and insist on a WD Purple rather than an unspecified “WD 4TB”?
  2. Everything is 2.8mm fixed. Per the datasheet that’s ~12m recognition, ~6m identification. For a parking entrance or a lobby door where I actually want to identify a face or read a plate, shouldn’t some of these be 4mm or varifocal?
  3. Series 1 (Value) cameras. These are the 1/3” sensor line with Motion Detection 2.0 rather than true AcuSense. Is it worth pushing for 2-series (e.g. DS-2CD2347G2H-LIU) on the critical positions, or is the Value line fine for a residential building?

Anything else obviously missing or mis-sized? Does the equipment make sense ? Thanks in advance.

Confused about HikCentral Lite requiring a server for Live View

iVMS-4200 can connect directly to my Hikvision DVR and display Live View without any Hikvision server. I can also access the DVR via its local IP address (http://192.168.10.54) in a web browser and view Live View directly.

However, HikCentral Lite seems to require a server for Live View.

Is this by design? I thought HikCentral Lite was the replacement for iVMS-4200, so shouldn't it also be able to connect directly to the DVR without needing to setup a 'server' on my computer?

Am I missing a setting, or is a HikCentral server actually required?
