Huge Day For Me!

Today marks a huge milestone in my weight loss journey.
TLDR: I’ve lost 30lbs and am below 290lbs for the first time in 8 years!
I started my journey in January 2025. I had just been diagnosed with diabetes, had a back injury from lack of core strength mixed with an old mattress, and weighed just shy of 320lbs (319). I started eating better, focusing on protein, started drinking more water, switched to diet and zero sugar versions of drinks when I wasn’t drinking water, joined the gym and started with yoga to build up some core muscles.
After I felt comfortable with that I started learning about strength training and going to the gym 3-4 times per week.
In July I had my follow up with my doctor and he said everything was looking great and heading in the right direction. My fasting glucose level had dropped by over 10 points, and my cholesterol had been cut in half. By September I had lost 25 lbs but had also added muscle.
Over the holidays I slipped, a lot, regaining about 19lbs. But had continued going to the gym 2 times per week, just not putting in as much effort. In January I lost my job. When I wasn’t looking for jobs, I had started doing more cardio and still doing strength training averaging 4-5 trips to the gym per week. I managed to get back to my September weight, but couldn’t drop below 295lbs.
3 weeks ago I finally started a new job, it’s more physical than my last job and I do a fair amount of walking.
Which leads to today. Today I weighed in at 288.8lbs!!!
