How do people still fall for scams?

As the title says I'm curious as to how serious scamming has gotten since I was a kid. I remember as a kid giving away 1600 Microsoft points for MW2 mod menu lobbies only to get scammed multiple times on it, but am curious as to what people are falling for now? I even once gave my email and password to someone claiming they can infect my account with a perma mod menu on Xbox 360 and lost it all...😂

I was also around 11 at the time, but now as a 25 year old I'm very adamant on never clicking links that aren't 100% verified from a friend or trusted source. So again my question is what are people falling for now and how are they falling for it so easily? If there's something I've known in gaming after getting scammed is nothing in this world is free nor will anyone over the internet genuinely care to help you out either.

I'm curious to learn more about what scams people have gotten involved in as a kid from Xbox days early Steam days and wanna hear your stories! I've had my share of being an idiot as a kid and not that everyone is stupid for falling for a scam as some are genuinely very scary. I just make sure to never click links or listen to random messages people send me on steam. Comment your story and would love to hear more about certain scams!
