Are my new Common Projects authentic?
I decided to replace my old Common Projects, purchased from End in 2017, with a new pair from Farfetch since they were on sale, but I have some concerns about their authenticity. The seller (based in Spain) is on the list of stockists on the Common Projects website, but I can't see the white ones on the seller's website so it may have been their last pair, hence the sale price.
As it's been so long since I bought my original pair, I wanted to get second opinions from people who have purchased them more recently on whether they are fake or whether it's just down to poorer QC and cheaper manufacturing over the years.
The things that made me question them are:
- Glue/adhesive on the leather and midsole
- A piece of thread or ha!r (for some reason it won't let me post if I write the word properly) stuck between the leather and sole - pulling it doesn't dislodge it at all, so it may have gotten stuck during manufacturing
- Gold numbers are slightly bolder on the new ones and the number 6 is lower than the other numbers
- 'Made in Italy' on the bottom of the new box is bolder than the old box
- Different material on the dust bags and text on the new one appears to be flaking. Not included in the picture, but the new dust bag is 2cm shorter than the old one.
- The new laces have a slightly looser weave than the old ones (I never used my old replacement laces)
- There is a raised area running down the center of the leather with the holes for the laces
- The reinforced stitching just above the toe box seems messy and there's an empty hole that wasn't used
