Stories with limited powers used in interesting ways?
One of my favorite progression fantasy series I've read was Mage Errant. (I've read a ton of them so I get to have a lot of favorites, right?)
Anyway, I like the way very specific powers are used in creative ways to have outsized impact compared to what someone would expect at first glance. Especially since it is done in a way which feels overall more clever than cheat-y, which seems hard to pull off.
Any other progression fantasy that does this sort of thing well?
