I let my car insurance lapse and don’t know what to do

So long story short, because of a series of ADHD reasons I let my car insurance lapse not even because I couldn’t afford it, but because I had to pay it monthly by calling an automated number (because I just never contacted support to get access to the website). So I currently do not have insurance and need to fix that ASAP for the obvious reasons, but also because I am in the last interviewing stages for a dream job that requires me to have and use my car, and thus need car insurance.
The thing is, while I was paying for the insurance and it was in my name, I didn’t set it up, my dad did for me because I was busy and I was living with him at the time. So I don’t know what to do or who to go to. I can’t imagine the previous company will let me return as a customer. Do other companies know/have access to my insurance paying history or anything like that and then could turn me away? I feel so paralyzed with shame and fear. I know I should tell my dad but my RSD is so bad. I haven’t told anyone in my life about this but I know I HAVE to get this done.
