Telling My Mother I'm Changing My Name

Hi everyone. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on this situation. My mother has known I'm nonbinary for a few years now. She's sort of accepting of it (she's not antagonistic, and she seems like she's trying to get it, but I always kind of get the vibe that she thinks its a phase and I'll just stop being trans one day. She also made a comment when I came out about "as long as you don't cut your boobs off" which......). However, she doesn't know I've been on T for over a year and I've recently started going by a new name. I want to let her know I've started going by a new name, but I don't want to upset her at the thought of my not wanting to stick with my birth name. This is also complicated by the fact that I would like to keep my birth name, which is actually gender neutral, as part of my legal name, just not what I go by on a day to day basis. If it makes sense I don't hate my old name; it's just not really me. Does anyone have any advice on how to bring this up and how to explain it?
