I've never fired a 1911 but would like to add one to my collection. I have a question though and i apologize if it's dumb, all my current handguns are striker fired, so not real familiar. I've noticed on 1911 some of the grip safeties/beavertails are upswept and some are down as circled in red in the pics. Is this just for style, comfort, better (higher) grip, etc?
