I made a post a couple weeks ago showing an issue with the barrel throat overhanging the feed ram; which resulted in my punch “hanging up” when traveling the path of the projectile.
My fix was to reprofile & polishe the barrel throat . I am happy to report this 100% fixed the issue. I have put 500+ rounds through the gun over the last few weeks at several shooting matches and haven’t had any issues with feeding. Nay-sayers be shunned!
I am so jazzed with how this gun came out, especially given how basically every part of this gun is from a different decade of colts production.
Just received my early Colt Rail Gun. This thing is immaculate and with a surprisingly good/tight fit! Had to throw on some Herret D45s. Ready to launch!
Want to get my pops a nice gift. He has several 1911s from colts to Springfield’s and some rock island and tisas. I want to add something flashy but subtle to his collection and have come down to these two options.
Was just wondering if anyone had any experience with doing a stain or wash on bone grips. Was thinking about doing a coffee bath. For a weathered look to these clean bones. Horrible idea?
Second pic with the wood grips just for the fun of it as I do enjoy them as well.
Is there any way to know which serial number M45A1 were decommissioned and sold to the public? Pic is of the one I was issued in 2013. The white label had my last name printed on it so I crossed it out for privacy. Probably won’t ever find this gun if it is out there but one can dream.
Well, the old peepers ain’t what they used to be. I’m knocking on 50’s door and after the last few trips to the range, my iron sights are almost non-existent to me. I guess a red dot of some sort is in my future. I know everyone has their on opinions on which one to run, but I’d like to hear everyone’s thoughts on this. For context, this one is my “goes bump in the night piece” so it typically (99% of the time) lives in the bedside safe.
Picked one up today from my FFL. Purchased from Grabagun.com for $535.
Gun came with a Tisas window Sticker, keychain, and nice black cleaning cloth with the Tisas logo.
I have seen multiple videos on Youtube where the nickel finish had some permanent marring on the frame below the ejection port from the nylon bristle cleaning brush rubbing against it during shipping and storage. I am glad they now include the cloth, as it protected it from the bristles (wonder if thats why the cloth is there now).
Has the new Tisas logo, which I am not opposed to, seen uglier logos on higher priced 1911s. I do like that they now put the serial number and Turkey info on the dust cover in real small font.
The fit and finish is perfect!!! I cannot wait till the weekend to get her to the range!!
New gun owner and I chose a Springfield 1911 Garrison. Any tips? How often should I service my gun? Any specific way to clean it? Etc.
Had a little bit of work done to this Series 80 Govt model I picked up a few months ago…Wilson firing pin, spring and firing pin stop, Kart barrel, Ed Brown bushing and link. The smith seemed quite pleased with herself and it sure feels good, can’t wait to get it to the range.
$875 for the pair I thought I did OK. I don’t care much about the Gersan, but it was new and came with an extra Wilson mag. It’s the stainless mil-spec that has me noodling on a new build.
I know which ones I’m leaning towards but I’d like to hear your thoughts.
