I just went to book a flight like I usually do as a platinum member. Always do basic economy as my status allows me to select my seat because of the status. WRONG I guess I missed the May announcement that even as a platinum member you have to book a main cabin extra ticket to select your seat in that area. This change is insanity. They will lose all their loyal customers to other options. My FIL gained platinum status for life based on his corporate travel, his mind is blown by this change. There is no longer any benefit to work for a high status. I get that I didn’t read the change so it’s totally on me. I messaged support and they weren’t able to do anything. This change overall abysmal.
