Still dont understand what to prioritize between an IRA and a ROTH 401K
Apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere. I have a traditional 401k and a Roth 401k, maxing the traditional at 6% to get the employer match and putting in 8% in the ROTH. Both with Vanguard. Was just looking through the community posts and seeing that an IRA should be considered before a Roth 401k. Grateful for a simple explanation on why this is and if to open one now. For context, low and manageable credit card debt, no loans. Currently building my emergency funds, I'm at around 2months worth but would ideally like to get to 6 months as I am the sole breadwinner due to some peculiar family circumstances before taking on more aggressive investment approach. I would feel more comfortable knowing that if anything happens ti my earnings the impact would not be immediatelly felt.
