Push back on internal traveling(colocation)

The team lead on my current project loves traveling A LOT. We’ve been traveling almost every week, and the project only started about 6 weeks ago.
I’m thinking about skipping this week’s internal onsite/colocation so I can stay home and spend time with my family.
Would I get in trouble or potentially receive a bad performance review for doing this?
I’m doing my job 100% and have honestly been carrying the team so far. I just don’t really want to travel every single week if it’s not actually necessary.
I’m not the only one who is skipping this week’s internal colocation. One team member has not been traveling at all because she has a little kid.

It’s my dream to work at Deloitte, critique my resume pls.

Hey y’all, I was looking to get some feedback on my resume before recruiting starts. I’ve taken some inspiration from the posts here.

I’m going into my sophomore year, and my end goal is to land at one of the Big 4. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Stupid question: how do I order a work phone?

It's a stupid question and nobody is willing to answer at all. I just want to be able to see my teams messages and emails on my phone 🙏

Also, would you pick t-mobile, at&t or verizon? I have zero experience with either of them and would appreciate y'alls collective insight.

Thank you!

Highest L35 Fixed Salary?

Hey guys!

I’ve seen people mention L35 offers ranging anywhere from ₹16L to ₹40 fixed (Yes 40!)

That’s a ridiculously wide range 😅

For those who’ve come across L35 lateral offers recently, what’s the highest fixed compensation you’ve heard being offered for an L35 lateral?

Curious to know what the upper end of the range actually looks like.

USDC Parental Leave Policy

Does anyone know the recent parental leave policy for USDC? I can’t really find it on DNET. Last time we were expecting it went up to 8 weeks but not sure now. Also is there anything else I need to do other than letting my project know?

USDC Personal Leave of Absence Policy

USA, USDC, GPS, 8 years on stable project. I've been burnt out for a while and would like to take 6 months unpaid leave to travel and decompress. Has anyone done something similar? What was your approved reason? Did you return to the same project or bench?

Very curious about your experiences with Unpaid/personal leave of absence.

Recruiter went quiet after telling me to schedule the next round . Normal for Deloitte Canada?

Applied for a role at Deloitte Canada. Had a screening call, was told the feedback was positive and they wanted to move me to the next round. Sent my availability the same day the recruiter asked for it. Followed up twice since with more open availability, and it’s now been about a week with no response.

Is this a normal part of how Deloitte’s internal scheduling works or would you read into a gap like this? Curious if others have been through something similar and what it ended up meaning.

To those of you who use LinkedIn seriously, why?

Genuinely curious why some of you feel the need to post every single personal life update like weddings, having kids, literally everything that happens at work. “I’m absolutely honored to participate in Impact Day.” “I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to attend DU.” Like bro… you guys are so fucking corny if nobody’s told you yet.

For those who work in Audit, shady practices at the firm.

How bad is it if a partner blocks the charge code to manipulate engagement economics in his favour when there was still work left to do? Im talking about 30+ hrs of work. It affects utilisation, monthly revenue reporting and the engagements economics. So because we didn’t want this to affect our utilisation, we charged time to the next years’s swift code which was ready at this point. Which again tampers the engagement economics and WIP for the following year’s audit engagement. I don’t know what this means for us but the guy is an absolute freak who is rude, cuts you off in convos and wants to be in control of every conversation. But I don’t care if I have this job or not.

I personally wouldn’t care but this absolute control freak psychopath partner messaged me the other day about something trivial, reminding me of duties and responsibilities contractually. Im tired of seeing such unethical egomaniacs get away with stuff and they have the audacity to call out on the most silly and trivial matters that don’t mean anything. Basically there are many other Managers and Juniors that have left audit teams because they don’t want to work with this freak.

Sorry for the Rant! But I would also like to clarify that all other partners I have worked with on other audits have been nothing but amazing to work with and don’t try doing the Manager’s job. I have been at the firm for 6 years now and never have been this stressed working on an Audit. Basically he’s at the point where if he presses anymore, I am willing to gather all evidence from others against him and report this guy to HR. So that noone else has to go through this abuse ever again!

Careless Managers

I am a consultant I’ve been with the firm for 2.5 years and recently I am noticing that our leaders fail to lead.

Does anyone else notice that managers are slacking off heavily? They’ll come online to delegate a task but if you have any questions around expectations or scope they’re nowhere to be found. They’ll log back on 4 hours later asking where is the deliverable.

My manager just asked me to “clean up and send out a deck” that has been client facing in the past, what needs to be cleaned up. I asked if they wanted to include the open questions section in the appendix but they’re dot is already purple again…

Am I expecting too much much? Is it normal for a manager to give you minimal direction and expect you to know what to do? Have I just had a few bad managers in a row?

I should probably leave

I have made some mistakes recently, and unfortunately, many of them have been documented through email. I have been feeling increasingly unmotivated because I have felt for some time that there has been an effort to push me out.

I know that I am capable of doing the work correctly, and I have demonstrated that I can do it. However, I perform better in an environment where I feel supported and comfortable asking questions or seeking guidance.

When I started, I came in with three classmates, and I felt that they did not particularly like me and gradually excluded me. One of them has also characterized some of my personal behaviors in a negative way, which I feel has contributed to the perception of me at work and made it more difficult for me to feel accepted.

I recognize that I am responsible for my mistakes and that I need to improve. They were no open to questions but now they are. At the same time, I believe the work environment and how I have felt within the team have affected my motivation and, ultimately, my performance. I feel stuck I should probably leave.

CPA bonus pay now?

I heard that there's rumors that the CPA bonus will be increasing from $5k to $10k in the US. Does anyone know if this is true? Also if it is, when will it apply for incoming employees?

I know EY's new $10k bonus only applied for employees whose start date was after summer/fall 2026. I start Deloitte in September and was wondering if I would qualify if the new bonus is true

I quit the grad program because I was benched for most of the time

tl;dr I quit after 1 year because I was barely utilised and was stuck on the bench doing bd work.

I joined the graduate program in Australia 1 year after the PwC tax scandal. I ended up in the Infrastructure Advisory team. Prior to induction day, I was asked to get a security clearance and managed to get it done ahead of time.

On induction day, I found out that my coach is a consultant. After speaking with him, he wanted to have our coaching catchups occur once a month. I didn't realise how abnormal this was until I spoke with other grads. Their coaches were managers or in a more senior position, and they had weekly coaching catchups. It turned out that having a consultant coach a grad is a bad idea because he did not have the influence to get my name on billable work or on bids.

For the first 3.5 months, I was told that I won't be utilised because there was not enough work available. I found that to be quite odd because the other grad on my team was put on a project in the first few weeks. I also noticed that other grads had projects lined up for them before their first day or were utilised within their first month. Initially, I didn't mind because I had a lot of onboarding activities to do, had to attend a lot of grad workshops and help the team out with bids.

3.5 months into the role, the first coach quit and then I had a senior consultant as the new coach. I then finally got utilised onto a project based in Melbourne. I was keen to start. After the first client meeting, I was tasked to upload the meeting minutes into our shared folder. I made a mistake and accidentally misspelt one of the names of the stakeholders. Rightfully so, I got told off by the manager and coach for making a careless mistake. I was then lectured on how that it has a negative impact on the client's perception of the firm. A few weeks later, the partner took me off the project to "keep the profit margin".

I then spent a few more months on the bench, there mostly silence on when I would be utilised again or if my name was put on any bids. There were moments when I was told that my name was removed from a bid because I did not have the "right experience". I was also rejected because the director preferred to utilise another grad who had been utilised since day 1. I then noticed that all the business development work in our team would be handed off to me. I found it odd that I was the only one doing business development work while everyone else was fully utilised.

I was then utilised on a project where they needed extra support to get a report completed. I spent a month working late nights to help get the project milestone over the line. I barely got any acknowledgement for my efforts except from my buddy and coach.

1 month later, the senior consultant told me that she can't coach me anymore because she was overwhelmed by her workload. In 7 months, I ended up on my 3rd coach who was a manager. She also struggled to find billable work for me. I was then meant to be onboarded onto another project but then the manager resigned and did not tell me.

I then spent another month on the bench doing bids and other business development work. I wasn't utilised again for another month until a consultant resigned. He specifically asked me to replace him on the project he was on. I then spent a month helping get the project milestones completed on time. Afterwards, I was off boarded due to client needs.

I then spent time on the bench again doing bids and business development work. I was about to be onboarded onto another project until the director told me that I did not have the relevant experience and rejected me. I found this to be frustrating because I had previous job experience in procurement and I was unable to get experience due to not having "the right experience".

I remember during a workshop about business case development, the director running it asked me to provide an example of a business case. I then said in front of 100+ people that I could not provide an example as I had never worked on a business case. I then started tearing up after the workshop. I was so frustrated that I had spent over 1 year in the firm and had barely gained any experience. Meanwhile all the other grads were fully utilised and gained a wide range of experience across different projects.

The last straw for me was when I was the only grad to not be promoted to consultant because by then, my utilisation had dropped below 14% and senior leadership deemed me too inexperienced for promotion. I was so upset because I tried my best but was not given the same opportunities as other grads because of my perceived "lack of experience". I did not think it was fair that my name would be rejected or not considered for bids but other grads were considered instead. There were grads who had never worked in an office job before but were still utilised.

I even people from other teams thought my situation was unfair. Even a partner from another team had asked me what on earth my coach and team was doing. She said that she would find it unacceptable if a grad on her team was getting benched. I am so pissed at senior leadership for excluding me from projects in favour of overworking their experienced consultants. and trying to leech every cent out of their clients. I ended up resigning and cited lack of utilisation when asked why I was leaving.

I think the lengthy bench time damaged my reputation in the team and directors did not want to onboard me onto projects as they perceived me as useless. I did not think it was fair that I was pigeon holed into doing business development work. How am I supposed to get experience if I am constantly being rejected for not having "the right experience"?

Deloitte offices should really have cubicles

Open concept offices really don’t make sense when most people have meetings through teams and don’t sit near the people they’re actually working with.

My understanding is that cubicles used to be standard but they changed to an open concept in more recent years for newer offices.

There’s not enough seats or phone rooms in my local office so people usually take their meeting in their seat. It’s super distracting to have someone in another meeting talking next to me while I’m having in my own meeting.

Don’t get me started on being forced to smell people’s lunch.

Is there some petition we can start for the firm to revert back to cubicles?
