Deloitte offices should really have cubicles

Open concept offices really don’t make sense when most people have meetings through teams and don’t sit near the people they’re actually working with.

My understanding is that cubicles used to be standard but they changed to an open concept in more recent years for newer offices.

There’s not enough seats or phone rooms in my local office so people usually take their meeting in their seat. It’s super distracting to have someone in another meeting talking next to me while I’m having in my own meeting.

Don’t get me started on being forced to smell people’s lunch.

Is there some petition we can start for the firm to revert back to cubicles?

ARCH Homeownership program: How do people below these income limits afford these houses?

ARCH homeownership program is supposed to give lower income households the ability to buy houses. How does a couple making less than 118k combined afford a near 1M house?

I don’t understand how this is supposed to be affordable.

Are there active layoffs happening in Tax USA?

I’m in US Tax, although my particular service line seems unaffected, I just saw some BTS colleagues that I work with sometimes is no longer with the firm. Some of them were with the firm for 8+ years.

Wanted to see if this is an ongoing effort or just part of regular layoffs.

Completely new to War in the East 2. Where to begin in 2026?

I just picked up war in the east 2, and this is the first game of this genre that I’m trying. The closest I’ve played before were Paradox games.

Where would you recommend to a complete beginner in 2026? I tried reading through the manual and I know there are some guides on youtube but they’re usually a few years old.

No decision after 7 weeks Marriage-based AOS interview (Seattle FO) - Should we be concerned?

We had a marriage-based AOS interview on May 11th (7 weeks ago) but still haven’t received a response yet. I saw posts here with people from the same FO getting their decision so I’m confused.

We went through the K-1 visa process, which took an entire year, and now this AOS process is looking like it will take close to a year as well (filed August 2025).

My spouse has been unable to work for close to 2 years now and every day this process drags on is a struggle. We have applied for a work permit at around the same time as the AOS, but that still has not been processed.

We thought the interview went well, but there hasn’t been any movement. Should we be worried? Can I reach out to anyone?

Do I need to validate parking at South Bellevue station?

Sorry if this not the correct place to ask but I had a hard time finding an answer online.

I want to park at the South Bellevue station lot and ride the light rail to work. I saw that there weren’t any pay posts there. Do I need to validate my parking/pay fee somehow if I park there and use the light rail?

Why do some people stay Senior for their entire careers? (Reasons for not pursuing CPA)

I’m in tax, and I’ve come across some seniors that have been with the firm for 10, 20+ years that essentially play a senior manager role but are technically seniors since they don’t have their CPA.

What’s the reason for this?

If the reason is that they’re too busy to study, wouldn’t it make sense for them to take a few months leave to finish up the exams? They’re very talented people so there’s no doubt that they can pass. I’ve been very curious about this because it’s not too uncommon to see super seniors.

Someone is smoking weed next to my window every day. Can I call the police on them, will they do anything?

Can I call 911 on them, if so would the police even care to come to anything?

I got a parking ticket for parking over the 2 hour limit but the time on the ticket doesn’t make sense?

On the ticket it says TIME OCCURRED 5:48 PM and DATE & TIME ISSUED 6:41 PM. This isn’t 2 hours so I’m confused on why I got this ticket. The time limit also doesn’t count after 7 PM so it feels wrong I got this.

Is there a way to contest this or inquire about this without going to court?

State: California

It’s been 5 months since I’ve been licensed but I’ve yet to receive my wall certificate.

I already had to renew my license once and pay all the fees again. The CBA was pretty punctual with the renewal reminders in the mail, but not my wall certificate. Why?

What makes a low performer that’s on the road to being fired? Is it obvious when you are? For example, do you get pulled into performance meetings, given critical feedback, etc.? Or are you put on a PiP/laid off without warning?

I’m a second year staff and I’ve never received any negative feedback or critical snapshot comment but I was passed over for a promotion to senior and my snapshot score is on the absolute tail end of my peer group (although it’s “above average”).

I feel like my team isn’t telling me what I need to hear. If there’s nothing wrong then I’m not sure why I’m not getting promoted or why my snapshots scores are bad. Is this the end for me?

I need honest answers because if I’m going to be fired within the next year or so I need to prepare.

Location: USA.

I know the job market’s not that good right now but does anyone have any insight into how it is compared to other professions?

I’m a CPA with 2 YOE at a big 4, dreaming about leaving for industry almost every day. A lot of people say to stay at least 3 years or become a manager first, but if my goal is to go into industry, I wonder if it would be better to leave public as soon as I land an industry job, as I’m sure there’s a ton of things I need to learn for the industry role.

Any insights?
